DMXS Tonight

Mitch Payton and the Pro Circuit juggernaut have wrapped up another two Lites titles to bookend the country once again. I think after a bazillion titles, it's safe to assume that they were not flukes even though the East title had plenty of drama. Mitch did not celebrate long as his team’s focus now turns to the outdoors. He will take a few minutes away from porting and polishing tonight to put up with our dumb asses.

Ryan Dungey had a great start and ending to his rookie SX season, but had a roller coaster ride in between. His speed was impressive and I’m sure with Roger Decoster working with him, his consistency will improve. It’s time for Makita Suzuki to start a new chapter post RC, and they are counting on their young guns to step up. Ryan will check in from Cali.

TFS contacted me about the interesting sit-down between Steve Whitelock and the FIM crew and said we needed to have him on to discuss the details further. Whitelock was traveling last week, but will have time for us tonight for a follow-up to some very interesting topics that will affect the future of our sport.

In a world where the privateer line is so blurred its definition encompasses million-dollar teams while somehow trying to hold on to the kid riding out of his pick-up. There is no doubt that everyone has their own idea of what a privateer is but when I think of the quintessential privateer, Barry Carsten defines it. He is truly one of the blue collar heros of our sport and his Jersey mafia connections have certainly not hurt him either. Barry will be calling in from Tony Soprano's basement on an untraceable cell phone.

Andrew Short was tired of wrangling his cattle in Texas so he decided to jump into the fight for the last few rounds of the Supercross season. He wanted to get in some race time before Hangtown and has come back swinging. Andrew is also known for being on of the nicest guys off the track as well and we will also discuss his involvement in the MX for Children effort.

Paul Gross is the founder of MX for Children in an effort to help Children’s Hospitals all over the country after one saved the life of his son who was born prematurely with complications. Paul has rallied the sports greatest riders and insiders to his cause and hopes to continue its growth. You can check out the raffle for a new Suzuki RMZ-450 and other great prizes at www.mxforchildren.org which ends at midnight tonight. The funds raised will go directly to the Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle. Check back often for ways to help in the future.

One topic in our sport reserves the most severe backlash and comdenation all the way from the casual racer to the pros......Sandbagging! Call it what you want, but it's considered cheating and people will let you know about it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, our good friend Kevin Cozadd from MXers for Jesus is embroiled in such a controversy. It has been well argued and documented on the moto forums about Kevin’s desire to race the newly-formed Vet B class at Loretta Lynn’s after riding A class some years ago. Kevin will be on to directly answer his critics as the Regionals are fast approaching.
