Former World Supercross GP Champion Reed Ready for Canadian Races
Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP Title Chase Heats Up
AURORA, Ill. (November 15, 2006) – Yamaha’s Chad Reed announced today that he will compete in the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP championship that opens at Toronto’s Rogers Centre (Dec 2.) and Vancouver’s B.C. Place Stadium (Dec. 9) before heading to the U.S. for the remaining races and the start of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series.
Reed, the 2003-’04 World Supercross GP champion, Reed holds previous titles in AMA Supercross and AMA Supercross Lites competition. Reed finished third in Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP standings last season.
"I have been training harder than ever before to get ready for the season," said Reed. "I know last year, I wasn't as prepared for the two Canadian rounds, but this year I am going to show up ready to race."
Last year Reed and Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael were engaged in the tightest points race in AMA Supercross history. Tied at 316 points heading into the season finals at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium, Carmichael edged out Reed in the main event for the AMA Supercross title. The loss has fueled Reed’s motivation for the 2006-’07 season.
"I know James Stewart is extremely fast and is the odds on favorite to win the championship, but I am confident that I can run with him."
