MX Sports announces 2007 Loretta Lynn's Qualifier Schedule
Morgantown, WV – MX Sports has announced the qualifying schedule for the 2007 Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Championships at Loretta Lynn’s. With over 60 tracks hosting qualifiers, and over 23,000 entries expected to compete for a shot at the finals at Loretta Lynn’s, the MX Sports program creates the largest motocross race in the world. “MX Sports spends the entire year evaluating facilities and locations to provide the best format possible,” says MX Sports Director Tim Cotter. “We’re really excited about the quality race tracks on the 2007 schedule.”
Highlights of the new schedule include the first-ever Loretta Lynn’s qualifier at Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey, and the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio joins the MX Sports program for the first time with the Mid East Amateur Regional Championship. Also, Unadilla Valley Sports Center in New York will host its first-ever Regional Championship, joining Doublin Gap in the Northeast Region. Also, Millville, Minnesota’s Spring Creek will return with a Regional Championship based on the phenomenal success of last year’s event. The Area Qualifiers will begin in late February and run through May. The prestigious Regional Championships begin in June.
The AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships is the world’s largest amateur motocross race. In 2006, over 23,000 entries attempted to qualify in 33 classes for the event, which began Monday, July 31st and concluded on Saturday, August 5th. As proof of the importance of winning an AMA Amateur National Championship, most of today’s top motocross and supercross racers, including Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart, won championships at Loretta Lynn’s before turning pro.
