Toyota AMA Arenacross Series To Feature Separate AMA Arenacross Lites Championships
AMA Arenacross Lites titles to be awarded in four regions
AURORA, Ill. (October 30, 2006) – Racers competing in the AMA Arenacross Lites division of the 2006-’07 AMA Arenacross Series will be eligible to win one of four separate Lites class regional championships, according to race officials at Live Nation and the AMA.
A progressive step forward in terms of Toyota AMA Arenacross being utilized as a feeder program for the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series, the four regional points leaders will not only be crowned “Regional Champions,” but they’ll also receive a free, season-long entry pass for AMA Arenacross competition – a benefit exclusive to Toyota AMA Arenacross Series’ regional Lites class champions.
“We’ve split the AMA Arenacross Lites division into four regions – North, South, East and West,” said Robert Hansen, director of arenacross. “From there, one racer from each region can win the right to be called 2006-’07 Toyota AMA Arenacross Series Regional AMA Arenacross Lites class champion. The No. 1 plate along with the purse money and factory contingency will be available at all of the rounds.”
Running in conjunction with the premier AMA Arenacross class on Friday and Saturday nights, the AMA Arenacross Lites class’ regional championship format was instituted in order to afford an up-and-coming rider – who cannot make the entire series – a chance at an overall regional title.
