“The Godfather”, “The Bullet” & “Showtime” To Line Up at the Queen Mary
October 23, 2006 – Freestyler Mike “The Godfather” Metzger, speedway legend Billy “The Bullet” Hamill, and champion flattracker Johnny “Showtime” Murphree have added their names to the grid for the AMA Supermoto Championship Final, Troy Lee’s “Duel At The Docks” Nov. 3-5 at the Queen Mary in Long Beach.
“This is what supermoto is all about,” said Lee. “Racers from every discipline going bar to bar to see who’s best. And we’re expecting to announce a few more marquee names before the green flag comes out.”
Supermoto series points leaders Jeff Ward and Doug Henry already had their hands full with their respective teammates Chris Fillmore and Mark Burkhart breathing down their necks. Now they’ll have to also contend with skilled riders like Metzger, Hamill and Murphree out to show they can just drop in and take the checkers, too.
The innovative track layout for “Duel At The Docks” features an array of crowd-pleasing obstacles, including a tunnel (a supermoto first) just before the transition from asphalt to dirt, the 40-foot Honda skyshot bridge, and the Parts Unlimited “Urban Cross” jumps.
The weekend’s action begins on Friday, Nov. 3rd with practice sessions that are open to the public. Saturday the 4th will feature amateur racing in the NASMOTO (North American Supermoto) championship, with the AMA national final taking place on Sunday the 5th.
Tickets are available at www.troyleedesigns.com and at participating Southern
