Monster Energy’s Doug Henry, Mark Burkhart and Brandon Currie All Win in Nashville

Graves/Yamaha racers take top podium spots in AMA Supermoto and Lites classes; Monster Energy-backed road racer Danny Eslick also shines

CARLSBAD, Calif., (Oct. 16, 2006) – Monster Energy racers dominated this past weekend’s AMA Supermoto Championship round at Nashville’s (Tenn.) Music City Motorplex as Mark Burkhart, Doug Henry and Brandon Currie swept all three AMA Supermoto and AMA Lites class main events.

Burkhart got things going early for Monster Energy/Graves Motorsports/Yamaha when he dialed in his YZ450F and scored the Superpole victory by nearly two seconds over series points leader Jeff Ward.

In the opening Supermoto class main event, Burkhart pulled the 
holeshot, led after the first lap and never looked back – leading the 
entire 14-lap main event. And while it looked for much of the race 
like Monster Energy racers would go 1-2, Henry bobbled late on lap 12 and had to settle for 4th overall.

With some vengeance in mind, Henry passed both Ward and his teammate Burkhart in the second moto and walked away with the victory –  leading from lap seven on.

As it stands, Henry is now 31 points behind Ward with one race 
remaining on the season – the Troy Lee Queen Mary Supermoto in Long Beach, Calif. And Burkhart also has a shot at the overall podium as he trails 3rd place Chris Fillmore by 36 points.

In the AMA Supermoto Lites class Monster Energy’s Brandon Currie made an amazing come-from-behind pass on the last lap over Lites series points leader Cassidy Anderson to take the win. Currie now trails Anderson by only 23 points with one race to go.

In addition to the Graves/Yamaha team, Monster Energy’s top road 
racer Danny Eslick came over from the AMA Superbike Championship and adapted quickly to the supermoto scene, scoring two top ten finishes (8-7) in the premier AMA Supermoto class. Eslick’s effort on the Suzuki RMZ450 was the best finish for Suzuki in the AMA Supermoto class and Suzuki’s only top ten finishes of the weekend in Nashville.

AMA Supermoto returns to action on Nov. 5th when the Queen Mary in Long Beach, Calif., hosts the final round of the AMA Supermoto 
Championships, presented by Parts Unlimited.
