Unbound Energy Drink-Backed Broc Hepler Wins Third Lites Class Race in a Row
Pa. native wins his hometown race at Steel City for the second
straight year; Nick Wey & Tim Ferry are Unbound Energy’s top placers in Motocross class
CARLSBAD, Calif., (Sept. 5, 2006) – Unbound Energy Drink’s Broc
Hepler captured his third consecutive AMA Lites division overall win,
this past Sunday taking the tile at the Steel City round of the 2006
Toyota AMA Motocross Championship.
Hepler was dominant in front of his hometown fans on his local track,
leading every lap of his 1-1 performance for the overall win.
“I just wish I’d have been able to race the entire summer like I have
these past few weeks,” said Hepler. “I’m racing as well now as I ever
have. It’s just too bad an injury slowed me up early in the season or
I think I’d be right in there battling for the title.”
As it stands Hepler has moved all the way up to 6th place in the
standings, having missed the opening three rounds (and the entire
supercross season) due to an injury. With Bret Metcalfe ahead of
Hepler by 30 points in 5th, it doesn’t look like Hepler will make the
top five unless Metcalfe does not finish at Glen Helen this weekend.
Still, it’s been an incredible second half of the summer for the
Makita/Suzuki racer.
Topping out the list of Unbound Energy racers in the Motocross
division were Nick Wey (Unbound/MDK Motorsports) and Tim Ferry
(Unbound/Moto XXX). Wey (7th) and Ferry (8th) were the lone Unbound Energy representatives in the top 15 overall this past weekend at Steel City. Overall, Unbound Energy still has five riders in the Motocross class’ top 15 with one race remaining on the season. They are: Chad Reed (4th), Nick Wey (8th), Tim Ferry (9th), Josh Summey (10th) and Kyle Lewis (13th).
