WBR Suzuki – Once Again a three Man Team
Bakersfield, CA - June 26, 2006 - Brad Williams announced today that
Team WBR/Suzuki will be back in full strength at the Red Bud event in
Michigan this coming weekend.
In the rough and tumble world of professional Motocross, you need a
little luck to have an injury free season. WBR has had plenty of luck
in 2006, unfortunately most of it was bad! It started with the loss of
Ryan Sipes in January. Sipes, a top contender in Supercross,
broke the bones on the top of his foot during practice before Anaheim
Two. Sipes spent eight weeks in recovery and then sustained a
secondary injury in May just before Hangtown keeping him off the bike
for another month.
Next, WBR's Ryan Morais received a shoulder injury at Anaheim One, but
he overcame it riding injured for most of the Supercross season yet
still placing in the top five at a number of the season's races.
Morais amazingly finished the Supercross season in 9th place
overall. Then just before the start of the outdoor season, Morais
was sidelined with a non-racing medical issue.
Team Owner Brad Williams was perplexed, "We came into the Supercross
season with high hopes and before we got out of Anaheim the team was
decimated. Fortunately Morais rode through his pain and salvaged the
season for us. We had a bit of a 'black cloud' hanging over us there
for a while."
Williams hired Brian Gray midseason to shore up the wounded team.
Longer then expected recovery times made Brian the team's only presence
at Southwick and Budds Creek.
For the upcoming Red Bud event, WBR will be back to full strength.
"It’s been a long season so far this year but we are finally going to
be a complete team!" Brad Williams said. "Injuries are part of racing
and you expect it to a certain extent, but this year was ridiculous. We
are glad to have all that behind us now and are going to go forward and
try and win some races."
Both Morais and Sipes are eager to get back on the track. "It's
been really tough to watch from the sidelines this year," Sipes
commented. "I felt like I was missing out, but didn't have a
choice. I'm ready now and really happy to be racing again."
Look for a good showing from Team WBR this weekend. It's nice to have the team back!
