Monster Energy’s Carmichael Captures High Point MX National
Last year’s $25,000 winner of the Monster Energy Triple Crown of
Motocross wins High Point and takes overall MX class points lead
CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 30, 2006) – The defending Monster Energy
Triple Crown of Motocross winner, Monster Energy-backed Ricky
Carmichael, was his typical fast and solid self this past weekend at
High Point, winning the southwestern Pennsylvania stop of the Toyota AMA Motocross Championship in Mt. Morris and taking the first of three rounds of the second annual Monster Energy Triple Crown of Motocross.
With the 1-1 performance Carmichael put 47 points between he and
Round One (Hangtown) winner James Stewart. Stewart had crashed in the first moto while battling with Carmichael and was unable to continue.
“I’d definitely like to thank the folks at Monster Energy for putting on the Triple Crown again,” said Carmichael. “Last year I was able to win it and I’ve got off to a good start to win it this year. But I’m sure Bubba will be back for RedBud (the second round of the Monster Energy Triple Crown of Motocross) and I imagine he’d like nothing better than to get in the way of me winning it again, as would a few other guys.”
In addition to winning the first of three Monster Energy Triple Crown
of Motocross rounds - with a potential pay out of $30,000 should
Carmichael sweep - RC also added $1,500 to his bank account as well as a new Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki custom pit bike to his garage!
Next up for Carmichael is the Motocross 338 National in Southwick,
Mass. – the series’ only pure sand race (June 11). Carmichael
hasn’t lost at Southwick since local John Dowd beat him in the 125
class in 1998.
