Hangtown Ramps Up Its Pre-National Amateur Days
Inaugural "Trophy Dashes" combine class' best for impressive cup prize
PRAIRIE CITY, Calif., (April 24, 2006) - The Dirt Diggers North
Motorcycle Club (DDNMC) announced today that the Hangtown amateur
program, leading up to the opening round of the 2006 Toyota/AMA
Motocross Championship, will feature an additional new race format -
dubbed "Trophy Dashes" - that will match the top three racers from each
class' division in a single moto race to determine the class A, B &
C "Best of the Best."
For instance, the top three racers in the C class from each division
(125, 250, under 25, 25-plus, 30-plus and 40-plus) will all be invited
to race the Trophy Dash final in order to establish the hands-down
bragging rights of the class. Not to diminish, of course, the hard
efforts of every divisional podium finisher, but in addition to their
race efforts in the prior motos they now have a shot at a top three
Trophy Dash spot and a coveted custom-made cup provided by the DDNMC.
"Amateur Days at the 38th annual Hangtown Classic will conclude with
Trophy Dashes as the last three motos of the weekend - before we turn
the track over to the pros," explained John Konkle, President of the
DDNMC. "We're excited about this new format and really went all out on
these cups this year. They're on par with the trophies we gave the pros
at the Hangtown National last year."
And the amateur prizes just keep on coming as class winners will also
receive an exhaust system courtesy of FMF and clothing product courtesy
of Thor. Additional Trophy Dash sponsors thus far include: Toyota,
Parts Unlimited and Dirt Digits.
The Hangtown Amateur Days, kicking off the 38th annual Hangtown Classic
MX National weekend, begin Thursday, May 18th and run through Saturday,
