Jake Weimer Update
Team SoBe/Samsung/Factory Connection Honda's Jake Weimer had an
eventful day in his first AMA Supercross race. The rookie from Idaho
crashed hard off the first-base triple in the second afternoon practice
for the SX Lites class and needed medical attention right on the race
track. He was taken to the Asterisk Mobile Medics' trailer, where his
left ankle was X-rayed. Some members of his team worried that it might
be a season-ending injury, but when the night program kicked off,
Weimer was right down there on the starting line.
By the time the evening ended, Weimer had finished a solid seventh,
though he was still hurting. According to Todd Galley of Traction
Enterprises, Jake was so proud of his crash he took Galley into the rig
to show him he crash on the big screen TV, in which Weimer's seemed to
get some rear wheel-spin off the face of the slick triple and lost a
lot of momentum.
"His ankle was swollen, but it was hurting the whole way across the
side of his foot as if maybe the swingarm hit him there," explained
Galley. "It felt better before the main event but he said it was really
hurting him bad the last 3-4 laps. He went over Tommy Hahn?s
house to soak it in the hot tub yesterday. Jake will be ready to
go in Phoenix."
