Maestro Suzuki Announces Rider Line-Up
The Maestro Suzuki professional motocross race team announced today
its rider line-up for the 2006 racing season. The second-year team is
slated to compete in AMA Lites West in the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross
Series and the AMA Motocross class in the AMA Toyota Motocross
Championships.
Leading the charge for the Houston-based team will be hometown hero
Jeff Dement, who resides in nearby Kingwood, Tex. Entering his 16th
season of professional racing, Dement is fresh off a career best 10th
place finish overall in the 250 class from last summer’s AMA Motocross
Championship and will be counted on to provide experience and
leadership to a young group of riders that include rookie riders Shaun
Skinner, Stuart, Fla., Vernon McKiddie, Houston, Tex., and Adam
Chatfield, a former amateur champion from England.
“We have a great group of riders that should compliment each other very
well,” explained Jeff Edwards, a successful Houston businessman and
owner of Edwards Racing. “I think we exceeded everyone’s expectations a
year ago, grabbing a podium and a top-ten finish in just our first year
of racing. We are looking to build on what we were able to do last year
and move this program forward for the future.”
Edwards Racing is a Division of Maestro Racing. Edwards is an ISO
for MasterCard and deals primarily in Latin American countries. Maestro
is MasterCard’s pin based Stored Value Credit Card system that links US
Banking customers and their relatives in foreign countries around the
world. The cards are reload able at any Walgreen’s, CVS, Radio Shack,
using the Green Dot System which has links in the racing industry
through MDK Racing’s Mark Kvamme or directly by bank ACH. Edwards
stated, “The cards also work great for teams traveling around where
riders, mechanics and drivers need money at a moments notice and the
home office likes to keep a tight reign on expense and likes to see
where the money is actual being spent. Money can be moved by the click
of a mouse from any card to another in real time”.
The American Suzuki Motor Corp. and local Houston dealer K’s
Motorsports return as primary sponsors for the team. The riders will
compete aboard Suzuki RMZ250 and RMZ450 bikes throughout the season and
local race shop JM Motorsports will act as chief mechanic, overseeing
the testing, developing and engineering for the entire program.
