Kawasaki Team Green Announces New Supercross Effort
Irvine, Calif. (December 5, 2005) – Team Green™, the amateur racing support program created by Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., announced today their plans to compete in the 2006 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series. The lineup of racers will consist of Team Green’s contingent of up-and-coming riders and will be lead by two-time Arenacross champion Darcy Lange of Courtenay, B.C.
Lange will be joined by teammates Donnie McGourty of Inverness, Fla., Kyle Chisholm of Seminole Fla., and Teddy Maier from Fort Dodge, Iowa. All four riders will compete in the Supercross Lites class aboard the new 2006 Kawasaki KX™250F and the team will make its debut at the second round of the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP in Vancouver, Dec. 10. Although it has not been determined as to which riders will compete in the East or West races during the series, the team is eager to get out on the track.
Overseeing the Team Green Supercross contingent is Billy Whitley of Huntington, Texas. Whitley has managed Team Green’s championship Arenacross program for the past two seasons and formerly led factory-backed Arenacross teams to four championships. Whitley, a former Team Green rider, is looking forward to transitioning over to Supercross with Team Green, adding that the 2006 season is the perfect opportunity for these riders to not only showcase the KX250F’s capabilities but the rider’s talents as well.
“The new KX250F is one of the best bikes I’ve ever ridden or tested,” said Whitley. “We’ve proven ourselves in Arenacross. Now I can’t wait for our boys to get out there and bring home some Supercross podiums.”
Team Green Manager Reid Nordin said that the 2006 Supercross lineup brings some fresh faces to Kawasaki’s professional racing efforts. “This is a new era for Team Green,” said Nordin. “We’re embarking on a new challenge for our program and we have a great mix of young riders and experienced talent who know what it takes to win. We’re confident they will do well in 2006.”
In addition to fielding race teams, Team Green also provides regional support vehicles and highly trained technicians at more than 100 other events, offering technical information and assistance to those who race Kawasaki products. Kawasaki also offers a comprehensive contingency program for amateur and professional riders who place well at designated events.
