Reason For Being
The final round of the 2024 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship will mark the end of Kawasaki factory rider Adam Cianciarulo’s mercurial career. A minicycle prodigy, Cianciarulo graduated to 250 class motorcycle in 2013 and began a feast-or-famine struggle where his many wins were offset by seemingly just as many crashes, injuries, and illnesses. He’s struggled for the past couple of years with a nerve problem that makes it hard for him to hold on to his motorcycle. Highly respected by both his fellow riders and members of the media like myself, Adam made the difficult decision to announce his retirement on his own terms, and on his own Plugged In podcast. (A feature penned by Jason Weigandt details more of Adam’s decision, beginning on page 46.)
