BELGIUM The once-mighty motocross power that gave us Roger De Coster, Joel Robert, Stefan and Harry Everts, the Geboers brother, Georges Jobe, Joel Smets, and many, many more is having a revival of sorts, as four Belgians are signed to factory deals for MXGP ‘23: Stefan’s son Liam Everts (KTM), MX2 title favorite Jago Geerts (Yamaha), and 16-year-old twin brothers Sacha (KTM) and Luca Coenen (Husqvarna).
SUZUKI The struggling member of the old “Big Four” Japanese brands decided to bow out of MotoGP after decades of being in the mix. And in the words of our own Jason Weigandt, they did “the most Suzuki of Suzuki things” by winning their last race as an official participant, with Alex Rins winning their farewell race at Valencia, Spain. But just when it seemed like Suzuki might be done done as a top-level racing brand, Ken Roczen pops up on social media on a #94 RM-Z450. Stay tuned.
