Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki Announces Canadian National Lineup
Kamloops, BC –The Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki team is excited to announce their lineup for the 2015 CMRC Canadian Motocross National season, which kicks off in the team’s hometown of Kamloops, British Columbia on May 31st. The team will feature Brett Metcalfe and Teddy Maier in the MX1 class with newcomer, Cole Martinez, joining the team to contest the MX2 series.
2013 Canadian MX1 Champion, Brett Metcalfe, returns to the team after filling in for the injured Ryan Villopoto on the Factory Monster Energy Kawasaki team in the US in 2014 and is eager to reclaim the championship title that he vacated. The Australian has been racing some of the AMA Supercross rounds this winter to get tuned up for his return and is happy to be back on the team he won his title with in 2013.
Returning for his eighth straight season with the team, two-time MX2 National Champion, Teddy Maier, joins Metcalfe in the MX1 class. The Fort Dodge, Iowa native finished fifth in the series last year.
A newcomer to the team for 2015, Rimrock, Arizona’s Cole Martinez will be contesting the MX2 class. Currently sitting fifteenth in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250 West series standings, Martinez is a dual Canadian/American citizen, whose mother lives in Saskatchewan, and is not only excited to contest for a Canadian title, but to get to explore his other homeland and will no doubt be a valuable addition to the team.
Team owner, Jason Hughes, is excited for his 2015 lineup, “For 2015, I think we’ve assembled one of our strongest lineups yet. We’re really excited to get Brett back for 2015 and he will no doubt be the title favourite. Teddy is always strong and consistent and has become like a member of our family. Cole is a great addition and with his strong SX results and Canadian heritage, it’s great to have him on the team and he will no doubt be a contender in the MX2 class.”
