450 Main Event
Wow! What a 450 main event. There was so much action in the first half of the race it was hard to keep up with. Andrew Short got the holeshot and was followed by Ryan Dungey, Blake Baggett and Cole Seely. Seely tried to get Dungey. Baggett also closed in. Behind, both Weston Peick and Chad Reed were making runs at the leader. Seely made contact with Dungey and got by, but went down shortly after. Then, Peick got around Baggett for third. Behind that, Eli Tomac was making a huge charge through the field. Reed eventually got by Baggett as well, Dungey got by Short as did Peick. Reed then went down, Tomac got Baggett and Peick fell back to eighth. Like we said, it was a crazy main event. The results below don’t tell the entire story.
250 Main Event
Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin is clicking on all cylinders. The Frenchmen won his second straight race and third of fourth in a runaway win over title competitors Justin Bogle and Jeremy Martin.
Behind Musquin was were the action was. Rookie RJ Hampshire, Jimmy Decotis and Joey Savatgy were engaged in a heated battle. Hampshire got Jimmy D first and then Savatgy moved through. Hampshire held Savatgy at bay for a good portion of the race before giving up fourth late. Still, it was the rookies best finish on the season. Kyle Peters had his best ride of the season in seventh. Anthony Rodriguez, Mitch Oldenburg and Martin Davalos would round out top ten.
450 LCQ
Kevin Rookstool, who raced the GEICO EndurCross last night in Daytona, grabbed the holeshot in the 450 LCQ. Quickly Nick Schmidt moved into the lead and was followed by Kyle Patridge and Ben LaMay. Jimmy Albertson overcame a bad start to get LaMay and finish third. LaMay held off a hard late charge from Zack Freeberg to get the last qualifying spot.
450 Semi 2
Raise your hand if you’ve heard this tonight: (insert rider) went wire-to-wire. This time it was Mike Alessi with the start to checkers win. Cole Seely came from way back on the start to finish second. Jake Weimer, Josh Grant and Killy Rusk would hold down the final transfer spots.
450 Semi 1
Broc Tickle grabbed the holeshot, but it was Weston Peick making the most noise in the first semi. Peick blew past Tickle in the whoops to close on leader Blake Baggett. The next lap, Peick did the same thing to Baggett to take the lead. Peick would stretch his lead to 2.4 at race end. Tickle, Kyle Chisholm and Nick Wey would take the last qualifying spots.
250SX LCQ
Gannon Audette, one of the early surprises in 2015, won the 250 LCQ in a wire-to-wire win. Florida native Justin Starling held on for second. 450SX Heat 1
Oh, boy, the 450 Class opened with some fireworks. It was veterans Andrew Short and Chad Reed out front early, with Davi Millsaps, Jason Anderson, Weston Peick and Cole Seely fighting for qualifying positions. Reed would eventually get by Short, but the real action was between Anderson and company for fourth. The four seemed to swap positions at every turn—going three wide in some. In the end, Anderson and Millsaps would fight off Peick and Seely to advance to the main.
250SX Heat 2
In just his fourth career race, GEICO Honda rookie RJ Hampshire has his first career heat race win. The Florida native, who lives a couple hours away from the speedway, grabbed the holeshot and lead start to finish for the win. Vince Friese started second, but eventually finished fourth after getting passed by Jeremy Martina and Joey Savatgy. Martin was on fire late in the race, setting the fastest lap with a 1:05.598.

Morning Report
Ominous skies surrounded the pristine Daytona International Speedway this morning. After light rain yesterday, a cool Florida morning graced riders during track walk. The good news: no rain is expected tonight, but temperatures will be in the low 60s as race time approaches. Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey enters the tenth round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross with a thirty-point lead over Honda HRC’s Trey Canard. Soaring Eagle/Jimmy John’s/RCH Suzuki’s Ken Roczen is third entering the weekend, forty-three back. If Dungey can extend his points lead tonight, it will have to come at a track he has never won at in his career.
The Ricky Carmichael-designed course has undergone some changes this year. The starting gate has moved from pit road to the west end of the infield and the race will run clockwise. The first four corners are tight and will challenge riders in the early going. Light rain that dropped yesterday should help with conditions as well.
In 250SX, Marvin Musquin enters the fourth round of the East Region with a seven-point lead over Jeremy Martin. Musquin has won two of the first three rounds, including a run-away win last weekend at Atlanta 2. Justin Bogle is third in points, ten back of Musquin.
Racing kicks of at 12:30 local time with qualifying. Fox Sports 1 has live coverage of the race beginning at 7:30 p.m. EST.
