Atlanta, Georgia – Troy Lee Designs rider Cole Seely bounced back from a tough race last weekend in Dallas, Texas to finish just off the podium with an impressive fourth-place result inside the Georgia Dome. Seely’s day at a supercross is jam-packed and we caught up with him during the big moments to see just how busy this Troy Lee Designs racer really is.
10:35 a.m. – Seely heads out for track walk. With the dirt so different in Atlanta compared to what has been raced so far this season, track walk is a very important aspect of the day.
11:48 a.m. – Finishing up getting ready to head out to first practice. The first practice doesn’t count toward qualifying, giving Seely a chance to shake down the track before timed qualifying starts at 1:45 p.m.
2:45 p.m. – After two practice sessions, it is time to set aside the track talk and focus on the fans that make this sport great. Seely and his teammates have a designated 30 minutes to catch up with the fans before they have to get back at it for the final qualifying session.
4:05 p.m. – Seely put in his best lap time during the second and final qualifying session to place him seventh overall after both qualifying sessions were combined. This gave him fourth gate pick in the second heat.
8:19 p.m. – Finished the Semi Race in second after being collected in a first turn pile-up in his Heat Race.
“The night didn’t start out like I wanted going down in the first turn of the Heat Race, but I didn’t want to have a night like I did last week,” said Seely. “Once I picked my bike back up, I tried to get in a good ride to hopefully have a good gate pick in the semi.”
9:55 p.m. – The eighth Main Event of the season has wrapped up and Seely put in a solid ride from start to finish. He worked his way quickly through the pack and finished just off the podium in fourth.
“I tried to tuck around the inside on the start in the Main Event and it seemed to work pretty well,” said Seely. “I am definitely stoked that I’m moving in the right direction. We’ll keep working this week and hopefully make it onto the box next week.”
10:02 p.m. – The points are tallied and Seely held onto sixth in the points standings, but closed the gap on fifth. He now sits just three points back of the top-five after eight of 17 rounds.
Seely was wearing the 2015 SE Pro Checker Gray Gear and the 2015 SE3 One Shot Black/White CF Helmet. Check out all of the 2015 gear sets and the 2015 Moto Helmets online and find your local TLD retailer.
