There was an old adage about motorcycle racing and factory teams that went, "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday." As a result, over the years we've been treated to a vast array of "win ads" in publications (and now online) touting the success of a motorcycle on any given Saturday night in Monster Energy AMA Supercross, hoping to get people into their local dealerships to buy themselves a dirt bike. The home for these ads was almost always Cycle News, since the iconic publication came out weekly and gave the OEMs plenty of chances during a season to raise their profile with potential buyers after a good weekend at the races. We went back and found some of our favorite Anaheim SX and other opening-round win ads from yesteryear. It's amazing to see how not only the bikes and athletes have progressed, but the complexity of the designs as a result of desktop publishing! Which one is your favorite?
