Chisholm to Race Edge of Summer MX
MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – With an impressive $50,000 cash purse on the line, pro motocross racers from all over the United States are looking to Soaring Eagle Resort & Casino this Saturday, Aug. 30, for the inaugural running of the Edge of Summer MX. And one longtime fixture on the American and global supercross and motocross scene – fast Floridian Kyle Chisholm – will be on the gate on Saturday night aboard his Rockstar/OTSFF Yamaha.
With advance ticket sales booming, Soaring Eagle has pulled out all the stops to create the ultimate venue for fans of dirt bike racing action. Chisholm, who road tripped up from Florida with friend and fellow pro motocrosser Ricky Renner (brother of famed FMX star Ronnie Renner), is pumped to jump right into the action on the grounds of Michigan’s No. 1 resort & casino destination.
“Everybody – and I mean EVERYBODY – has been talking about this event. It’s definitely the buzz in the motocross world right now,” said Chisholm, who’s coming off a fourth place overall finish in the premier MX1 class on the Rockstar Canadian MX Nationals tour this summer. “My race team is based out of Toronto, so it wasn’t a big deal to get a bike lined up. We’ll drive up from Florida today, get there in time for the press ride on Friday, race Saturday then fly home on Sunday. Should be a real fun weekend.”
The second big-name pro racer to commit to the Edge of Summer MX event after Michigan motocross racing legend Nick Wey broke the ice yesterday, Chisholm no doubt possesses the skills needed to bring a chunk of the $50,000 cash purse back to Florida with him.
“There’s a bunch of guys rumored to be coming, but I’m sure a lot of them are keeping it on the DL until they show up,” said Chisholm.
On a side note … Chisholm’s wife, Britney, was recently a contestant on “Wheel of Fortune” and won a trip to Hawaii. To which Kyle says: “I’m racing Soaring Eagle on Saturday, flying home on Sunday and Monday we fly to Hawaii!”
Featuring 22 amateur classes, from ages18+ to 60+ in novice to expert classes, racing on the Carmichael-designed, Mark Barnett “Bomberbuilt” and RedBud (Mich.) MX-built track on the Soaring Eagle grounds, the Edge of Summer MX event will rock the central Michigan action sports scene to its core with an entire day – and night, under the lights – of motocross racing action.
Throughout the day fans will be able meet and greet with Carmichael and Hart, as well as RCH Racing’s Weston Peick and Ivan Tedesco, posing for photos and getting autographs from some of the most well-known action sports stars in the world. Partnering with Soaring Eagle, RCH team owners Carmichael and Hart – along with RedBud MX, the world’s premier MX track (located right here in Michigan) – have combined on what should prove to be an incredible and most memorable day/night of motorsports action right in the heart of the state!
