Russell, Baylor Brothers to Race Atlanta EnduroCross
IRVINE, CA – KTM already has some heavy firepower in the GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship with Taddy Blazusiak, (five-time GEICO EnduroCross champion) and Taylor Robert, (former Junior EnduroCross and WORCS champion) competing full-time for the 2014 championship. But for the upcoming Atlanta round, they will be joined by some of the biggest names from the East Coast off-road scene. KTM officials confirmed this week that Kailub Russell (2013 GNCC XC1 Champion), Steward Baylor (former GNCC XC2 and National Enduro Champion) and his younger brother, Grant Baylor (current GNCC XC2 Champion) have all committed to compete.
“We are thrilled about Kailub, Steward and Grant deciding to add the Atlanta EnduroCross to their racing schedule,” said Mike Karsting, VP of events for TEN, the producers of the EnduroCross Championship. “The EnduroCross regulars really have this type of racing dialed in so these riders should be applauded for taking on the challenge. They are all great riders and champions so we expect them to do well and it will be exciting to see where they fit in. The Atlanta fans are in for a champion-packed starting line, for sure!”
Steward Baylor competed in the Los Angeles X Games Enduro X in 2012 and showed impressive speed. For Grant Baylor and Russell, this will be their first times throwing their hat in the EnduroCross game and it couldn’t be at a more fitting venue for the East Coast riders and fans.
This is the first EnduroCross to visit to the East Coast of the U.S. since 2009 and with the event taking place during the summer break for the GNCC and National Enduro Championships, the Atlanta event will provide a welcome opportunity to race inside the air conditioned Gwinnett Center on Saturday, August 23rd.
