Suzuki Announces 2014 RM-Z Models

BREA, Calif. – Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (SMAI) continues its introduction of 2014 vehicles by announcing the 2014 RM-Z450 and RM-Z250. The company recently announced the expansion of the Suzuki Boulevard cruiser line.

For 2014, the Suzuki RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 feature updated ECM ignition programs that improve starting, as well as race-inspired Champion Yellow-and-black graphics to best fit each bike’s high-performance character. These upgrades show Suzuki’s continued commitment to the already-strong performance of its RM-Z450 and RM-Z250, facts proven in part by Cycle World magazine’s repeat acknowledgement of the RM-Z450 as Best Motocrosser in 2011 and 2012. And in 2013, both the RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 was chosen by Transworld MX as their bikes of the year. The RM-Z450 was also selected as the class-leader by RacerX.

The 2014 RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 retain the “Champion Approved” features and performance that have lead racers nationwide to select yellow motorcycles as their racing equipment. For years, top racers have chosen to ride Suzuki, including Yoshimura Suzuki rider James Stewart and Ricky Carmichael, whose RCH Racing team competes on Suzuki RM-Zs.

With endorsements like that, Suzuki proves that choosing an RM-Z is the best decision a racer can make. Amateur and pro racers nationwide are increasingly opting for Suzuki RM-Z motorcycles; both the RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 continue to increase their share of race entries each of the last four years. Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. will soon announce its detailed race-support offerings for the coming season.

Showa piggyback-reservoir rear shock with high/low-speed compression damping adjustment, plus rebound damping and spring preload adjustments. The rear shock, working through Suzuki's superlative rising-rate linkage system, provides 2 inches of wheel travel, delivering maximum traction.

Front fork spring pre-load is adjustable, allowing a wider range of settings.

2014 Suzuki RM-Z250

Key Features

1. Through feedback from factory racing, the piston and piston pin were developed using Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis. The new piston is 3% lighter without any compromise to strength or rigidity.

2. The internal shape of the passage in the crank pin was changed to capture the sludge in the engine oil and enhance the durability of the bearing at the big end.

3. The crankcase reed valve has been made thinner for more efficient lubrication. The oil strainer has a stronger magnet to capture more sludge from the engine oil. Both contribute to better throttle response and smoother power delivery.

4. The cam specification was reviewed and the intake cam profile and the exhaust cam timing were changed to adjust the overall output characteristic. This establishes both high output and controllability.

11. The muffler body uses conventional bolts in end cap instead of rivets to simplify

the replacement of the glass wool packing in the muffler.

additional grip.

11. Two couplers are included for quickly adjusting the fuel setting to suit the riding

conditions. One is for a richer fuel setting than the stock setting and the other is for a

leaner fuel setting. The customer can change the fuel setting to best suit the riding

conditions by just connecting either coupler.

12. A maintenance cap for the fuel pump and a plug for the fuel hose are included for ease

of maintenance when the customer removes the fuel tank for maintenance.
