On the heels of his first Lucas Oil Pro Motorcoss win at Hangtown, Ken Roczen shined brightly in the elevation of Thunder Valley. GEICO Honda’s Zach Osborne grabbed the Motorcycle-Superstore.com moto 1 holeshot but was quickly amassed by Roczen. Meanwhile defending 250 Class champion Blake Baggett was burried deep in the pack. Early leader Osborne, while in second, miscalculated a scrub and caught the rear wheel just to the side of the table causing him to slide out and off the track.
Eli Tomac quickly amassed an early deficit, grabbing the rear wheel of Roczen late in the moto—even closing the deficit within a second—before sliding out on the last lap. Roczen held off the late charge of Tomac to take the moto 1 win. Tomac rebounded to finish second.
MyPlash/Star Racing rookie Cooper Webb made a late pass on Marvin Musquin to take third—his first career podium. Jason Anderson, Osborne, Martin Davalos, Jeremy Martin, Blake Baggett and Cole Seely would round out the top-ten.
