DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Supercross By Honda, the longest continuous Supercross event in America, will be staged on Daytona International Speedway’s legendary tri-oval on Saturday, March 8, 2014.
The grueling and challenging event will be the only stop in Florida for the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, in 2014. Tickets for the event are now on sale.
The Daytona Supercross By Honda will once again be a Ricky Carmichael Signature Design. Carmichael, who owns a record five Daytona Supercross By Honda victories, will design the course for the seventh straight year.
“It’s a great thing to be associated with everybody at Daytona International Speedway,” Carmichael said. “When you think about all the history here with all types of racing, it’s pretty cool to be a part of it. It’s been fun to design this track the last several years. I love the relationship and I love when the finished product comes out.”
In the 2013 edition of the Daytona Supercross By Honda, Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto joined Bob Hannah, Mike Kiedrowski, Jeremy McGrath and Chad Reed as three-time champions of the prestigious event.
“Daytona is a unique place to race and to win it is pretty awesome,” Villopoto said after this year’s race. “It’s not like any other racing. If you can get a win here, it shows you are definitely one of the best.”
Villopoto will face a tough field of challengers including James Stewart, Justin Barcia, Trey Canard, Ryan Dungey, Chad Reed, Davi Millsaps and Andrew Short.
