this is a tossup between RD, JS, RV, they are all strong outside, frankly I am seeing JS and RV going at it again.

Indeed Davidl _I see #1 and #7 upfront at Daytona....Once all the drama settled in STL, they were still the two top dogs, two weeks in a row...I think since Daytona has a little "outdoors" mixed in....RV is looking to show they boys what they may be in for this summer.... Stewart has had impressive speed at Daytona..2011 he was amazing until the crash then last year the win in the mud...it will be a great race..
Musquin will take the 250 main

I'm a RV fan but RV had NOTHING for JS in 11 til the crash and I am wondering how aggressive JS will be, normally once the gate drops its all adrenalin and 100%

JS is racing for $ and wins , RV is going for the championship and wants every win badly.

Profile Picture
muehterc wrote: 5:23pm March 4, 2013

R u kidding me? RV1 most, check his outdoor and recent dominance. JS7 next or toss up with RD5... It's more of an outdoor track and always a chance of rain and slop. KW14 can't win this one (retired) but I'd love to see him race this every year!!

Profile Picture
jimmyc261 wrote: 5:24pm March 4, 2013

I think JS is fastest at Daytona, however we don't know how his fitness is. It should be awesome, I would love to see Canard kick RV's ass like he did in 08.

Also I heard Roczen is racing the 450's. Hope he and Tomac step it up at Daytona.

I WILL BE THERE..........

Profile Picture
villaslowdoh wrote: 5:26pm March 4, 2013

i think rv will win, the riders that it will favor are rd5 rv2 js7 not so sure about millsaps and reed. man stewarts starts are great now that practicing really paid off

Profile Picture
731Chopper wrote: 5:27pm March 4, 2013

I think Bubba is going to be the man to beat. He is always fast at Daytona and I think the track fits his riding style very well. But I also think poto is going to be very strong because I feel his corner speed is the fastest in the world and he is also very good at outdoor tracks. If Bubba gets the holeshot and RV is outside the top 5 I will be surprised if he doesn't win. However, I think if RV and Bubba can start 1-2 in either order we will have a great race on our hands

Profile Picture
villaslowdoh wrote: 5:36pm March 4, 2013

could it have ben that the reason millsaps has ben winning is bc of the easy slick tracks? we will see since the dirt is supposed to be better in the east

731chopper i think if theres a battle between rv and js rv will come out on top bc js will be pushing to hard and make mistake or just crash. poto seems to ride the edge better this year. i will be holding my breath in fear of js crashing if rv is behind him in second or if js is trying to catch rv, i think he will be riding over his head trying to catch rv

Profile Picture
mxmofo1 wrote: 5:46pm March 4, 2013

@villaslowdoh,, "poto seems to ride the edge better this year." Seriously???

Profile Picture
villaslowdoh wrote: 5:55pm March 4, 2013

mxmofo1 yeah ur right but i think poto has got the bike issues straightened out now. yes he did have his problems earlier. should have put a little more thought into that sentence

Profile Picture
731Chopper wrote: 5:55pm March 4, 2013

I don't think RV was riding the edge very well at the beginning of the season at all. However in the past couple of weeks he has been and with his bike setup in St. Louis he looked as strong and aggressive as ever. Its no secret he has been chasing front end feel this season but it seems like with those new clamps he finally found it which is not good news for the competition. He looks to be the strongest rider right now but I still think Bubba will be the man to beat Saturday.

Come Daytona, you can damn well bet that if RV starts 2nd to Stewart that RV will win and Bubba will look p.o'd on the podium cause it will be week number 2.

Stewart will not run with RVs fitness for 20 laps. RV is on, James is just along for the ride.

Profile Picture

This isn't some easy slick track iwth no obstacles or whoops, this is Daytona, it will be rough and fast. No one will hang with RV's fitness.

Profile Picture
villaslowdoh wrote: 6:38pm March 4, 2013

persona this track looks like it might show stewarts fitness as in not being as good as poto's because of how rough it looks. i think st louis may have shown his fitness to

Profile Picture
rdub934 wrote: 6:59pm March 4, 2013

I would love to see Dungey get a holeshot this weekend. Most likely will be a showdown between RV and JS. I still have questions about Stewies fitness - definitely not up to RV's standard. Chad is a beast at Daytona and Millsaps is good there, as well. Barcia won it last year on a 250 in the mud, Tomac is fast on outdoor tracks, as is Canard. Too many fast guys. Easiest thing to say is "It will come down to the start."

How are people still doubting Stewarts fitness? He has run both main events in the last two weeks with ease. Same doubters when he raced outdoors last year and he won 4 motos straight at 30 minutes + 2 laps. Hes fine. And persona, have you not watched daytona the last few years? He struggles. Or like last year, goon rides in the mud.

toothperry im not saying his fitness is not good just not as good as poto

Profile Picture
jacoba73 wrote: 7:40pm March 4, 2013

Persona - I wouldn't say it's RV fitness that sets him apart - it's his speed and killer instinct i.e. when he get's behind a dude, they know about it! And he passes them straight away. Fitness-wise all the top guys (Dungey, Reed, Villo, Stewart, Millsaps etc) are probably on par. I don't see this race being won on fitness. Mental fitness however...RV has it.

I picked RD because his success with outdoors last year. Whats interesting is that RD, CR and RV all specifically said they found settings that helped them. It will be cool to see how well DM runs at this track with his newfound speed. Good stuff no matter what next weekend.

Profile Picture
731Chopper wrote: 8:05pm March 4, 2013

Not sure how you can question his fitness either but you can certainly question his consistency. And toothperry if you are going to pick on Villopoto's goon moment last year how about we even the score with Bubba's goon moment 2 years ago...

RV 2012
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EQtGFUhQpM

Bubba 2011
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dtr-hl_ePOY

I'm not trying to be mean and obviously Bubba clowned it up because he was a little rattled from his crash but he shouldn't have crashed in the first place which goes back to the consistency thing.

And I'm not sure how RV historically struggles at Daytona seeing how he has won it twice in the past 3 years...

Profile Picture

I went to the archives and found this for the last four years:
2012 Daytona results
1 JS
2 DM
3 Kdub
4 Musquin
5 RV
6 Alessi
7 Weimer
8 Tickle
9 Goerke
10 Metty

2011 Daytona
1 RV
2 CR
3 RD
4 Shorty
5 DM
6 Brayton
7 Kdub
8 Kroc
9 JS
10 Alessi

2010 Daytona
1 RV
2 RD
3 TC
4 Kdub
5 DM
6 Hahn
7 Wey
8 Chisolm
9 Hill
10 Morais

2009 Daytona
1 CR
2 JLaw
3 DM
4 Alessi
5 Kdub
6 RV
7 JS
8 Shorty
9 Sipes
10 Hahn

If I awarded the point system to these racers for these last 4 years (1st-25, 2nd-22, etc) this may be a good predictive factor for how Daytona looks. Remember CR ad RD missed two of these years and JS and Alessi missed one. So if you were to factor in at least 20 points per race for CR and RD their total would be right in there with RV, JS would be close to DM.

RV 81
DM 74
Kdub 68
JS 51 (3 races)
Alessi 44 (3 races)
CR 47 (2 races)
RD 42 (2 races)
It is a tough call as to who the track favors and probably depends more on the condition of the track. In 2012 it was a mudfest and RV side saddled about 50 feet shortly after the start but moved up to 5th. I would love to see KDub race it one more time.

**In 2008 Kdub won and DM was 2nd, CR 7th, and RD 10th. Who was 3rd you ask...Jacob Marsak!! Canard beat RV in the Lites**

Barcia rides Daytona well and I think Tomac could be strong too. KRoc will be riding the 450 class on a 350 there.

Profile Picture
jw621557 wrote: 9:20pm March 4, 2013

For those who are talking about fitness it is no secret that the most fit guy out there is RD. Milsaps fitness is real strong too. Tomac is really strong. I am not sure RV can keep up with these guys at the end of the race and I know JS and CR can't. We may see Alessi in the top 6.

Davi has a ton of heart and is an excellent rider, I think he will prove he is the real deal and win this race. He got ran into and had a poor start last week and lost a ton of points he can't let RV gain any more points he will turn it around this week..

It's no secret RD is the most fit guy out there? You don't think RV can run with Tomac and Milsaps at the end of the race because of fitness? What drugs have you been taking?

This is the first year that Milsaps' fitness hasn't been bad and we are still just racing Supercross so theres still a big question mark there. And Tomac is Mr. wall hitter... did you not watch the outdoors?

Nobody is talking about him possibly winning?

He did some serious murdering at the MXON in the sand back in September... he has also been riding well enough this year in SX to have the points lead. He looks SOLID. More solid than any of the 450 guys have n=been all year. My pick is #1 RV #2 Stewart and #3 KROC... any of them could win though... this season is awesome. Can't wait to see how Milsaps does in the sandy rough outdoor race that is Daytona! That might just be RVs secret to the championship.... we will see

Heart says Dungey, head says RV unless he starts outside of the top 10. RV has his mojo back and he's attacking the tracks. On a long track like Daytona he could start 10th and still win. I'll go 1. RV 2. RD 3. DM 4. CR 5. ET

Musquin hopefully pulls his first W in the 250s.

Someone told Stewart there aren`t any worms in sand, so you just know he's gonna go inspectin come Saturday nite, just to see if dats true. In his interview after St Louis, Jamz shook his head, and with a huge grin said, "Dats two races I've kept it rubba down. Dats awesome". Even he can't believe it. LOL.
Anyone see Reedie in that short sand section in St Louis? He's back on form, bikes good, and he loves it down in Florida. Ain't nobody gonna beat dat dude, ´cept maybe Kroc who just loves the loose stuff as well. RV third and Davi 4th.

Yes it's Daytona and it's gonna be rough but we're still not talking a 30+2 outdoor here. All the top guys have the stamina to ride hard to the end.....gonna come down to who can ride the most aggressive the longest.

Daytona; It is where RC always said the Championship starts to get serious.. The Toughest track of the year should separate the contenders from the pretenders.. The Sensational Seven morphed in to the Great Eight when Tomac jumped up and now adding Roczen its grown into Nasty Nine.. A lot of great talent, plus a great track will equal a great race to watch!!! No matter which rider crosses the finish line first, we the fans, will be the big winners!!!

Stewart is fast at Daytona, has always been the the fastest there, his mistakes have cost him. Even Carmichael had nothing for him there, again it was Stewarts crashes that did him in. But on the Suzuki I think he will be even better. Aslo expect Barcia to shine there. Should be a good one.

It's definitely going to be RV as much as I like Stewart... RV is the man to best and he's on a mission to eat into the #18's points! Just like I saud last wknd the green racer has the luck of the Irish on his side! Daytona often bites the JS7 and he's being smart this yr which is definitely good for him and the sport! And as long as the 7 keeps it on two, stadiums will sell out and that's something you can sink your teeth into!!
