Is there a female that is going to try and race MX2? Is that why they made this stipulation?

"unanimously adopted the following change to the 2013 FIM Motocross MX2 World Championship Regulations on 18 February 2013.

Women will be allowed to start one lap a head."

What a JOKE the GP is becoming!!!!!!

I wish i lived in a world where on a whim is could just change the rules to fit anything i wanted

Lancelot is entering the MX2 category, they changed the rule for her.
If Gp's are a joke, you should enter them. With some luck you could set a lap time about 20 seconds off of Lancelot's worst time. Good luck dude

They should just make women's MX equal in status with men's MX, holding women's races the same day as the men's, both in FIM and at AMA nats and Supercross. That would eliminate some of those boring breaks and halftime shows.

Manes you dont get it do you. Have you not seen the way the sport is run over there? Im a fan of the racers and all and I believe they are just as good as the guys over here in the US. But changing the rules, like they just did is LAME. And why would you suggest I enter. Because i disagree with the rule change. You have no frame of reference, your like a child who wanders into a room in the middle of the movie and asks whats going on.

As MXA has put up, this new 'rule', is, probably, illegal by EU laws.

I'd like to see someone challenge the rule. The under 23 rule is not a good one.

And challenging it, could be a great way to reduce, or start the destruction of Luongos' 'death grip' on MX GPs.

That it allows Livia in, is OK by me - if she has a genuine go. I've always said I see no reason why suitably skilled female riders can't do well at MX / SX. We've a large range of successful body types in males that do well - it's not a sport about man - mountains being the only build that succeeds.

Look to Shayna Texa(sp?), and Nicole Cheza (and others) in AMA Flat Track. Theres a couple of women that get amongst it, with very high degrees of success.

I'd like to see Ashleigh Fiolek (sp?), JT, and others, step up. I'm pretty sure Ash couldn't complain about not having good enough equipment.

Sue Fish, for one, made the effort, on only shop backed bikes, decades ago - why are riders with much better backing Not trying?

Well, it's Their choice, of course, but it smacks of not wanting to get out of their comfort zone, and improve. A woman rider, competing at the highest levels of the sport, is sure as hell going to get a Lot of attention - so they would be Very good value to their sponsors.

@SpeedShifter - Quite calling it Men's Motocross. There is nothing that prevents females from entering MX1 or MX2. As far as I know, WMX is the only gender based class. Feminist just like calling it Men's Motocross so that it sounds like the classes are equals instead of acknowledging that there's a Women's class because no female riders are fast enough to be competitive in the MX1 or MX2 classes.

They just realized too late about Livia's age. She said she wanted to enter the first two rounds as soon as the new rules came out. She is almost as fast as Chiara Fontanesi, the fastest woman on an mx bike, no doubt about that. They changed the rules before the start of the season, not midseason, and this is acceptable. Last year the Motogp rules were changed just before the start of the season, adding 5 kgs to the weight of the motorcycles, given a disadvantge to Honda. Here it's just a question of how many men will be beaten by Lancelot.
