5 bucks says he doesn't ask to ride the 350
Wow. good luck Shorty. i think its pretty damn obvious that the ktm and yamaha are just not up to par this year. I guess when your owed hundreds of thousands of dollars you will take whatever support you can.
Yeah that KTM sucks all right. Winning races and being 2nd in points isn't a place anyone wants to be in.
Ill bet just about anything , he finishes about the same place he has been.... Six thru tenth....
Thank you BTO Sports! Shorty will give you his all and will make a great spokesperson for your company.
The 2013 KTM 450 may be the best production 450 this year, according to all the magazine tests. I hope Shorty does well in it. But Honda sure lost a great opportunity. They should have paid him a ton of money to continue to get good results in an almost box stock Honda.
Twotwo Motorsports had an awesome oppurtunity to sign Short but who knows why they didn't. He's beating Reed in points and was already on the factory Honda. BTO's gain I say, they get a well spoken rider and he get's to practice with K-Roc again.
Clarifacation: When Short had Chapperal sponsorship, he was on the factory Honda this year.
@rjstreets are you all right.Reed has 20 more points than Short.Reed never tried to sign Short.Your comments make no sense.
wesmx what an ignorant comment. Good luck on the new Ride Shorty, you will have an awesome machine with great support!
Short will be good on the Katoom, that is what we used to call them a long time ago. He is a good spokesman for any team also! KTM is flooding the show just like Yamaha is trying to do.
Money and resources are in short supply for everything right now. Unless your a politician in the Federal Government.
No pun intended
I've always loved Shorty. Props to BTO/KTM for signing him. At the same time, pretty disappointed in Honda. Shorty was always great on a Honda, and he seemed very loyal to them. It looks like they just flat ignored his existence. Not sure why.
+1, big props to BTO for putting this together mid-season. My next order will be with BTO just to show some support. :)
Goerke's been killing it too!
That is great news to hear BTO stepped up to team up with Andrew. Hopefully this will lead to something more down the road. Stay healthy Andrew and we wish you all the best for the remainder of the series, and maybe for the summer too.
Whoops: So, this (is) for the outdoors as well. And I forgot to add thanks to KTM also.
"Oh Happy Day!!!"
Glad to see him back on a KTM, especially since the 450 is totally different from the one he chose the 350 over. He did, however, finish 6th on the 350 in one of the most stacked seasons ever in 2011. What happened to Geico Honda's vacant KW14 slot? That would've been a great fit for him, too, and made a lot of sense.

Bang your dead MOFO !
great to see Shorty on a good ride.
Good luck
wesmx, surely you jest!! KTM is 2nd in the 450 class and leads the 250 west class. I will say this. I am a huge Shorty fan (who isn't?) but his results will stay the same. I am just glad he has a way to pay the bills and get to the races. Would love to see him break into the top 5 at some point though.
Great news to hear Shorty can continue racing through out the year, thanks to BTO!
I see they dropped the BBR name, is Forrest Butler still with the team? I see no mention of him on their website. He built that team.
Stoked to see Shorty get a ride, he deserves it for sure! Hope he can get comfy on the KTM quickly!
It's real disappointing that L&MC; and JWR hired riders when they did not have the budgett to make it to the end of the season. In saying that props to Pro Circuit and BTO for saving the year for Wilson and Short.
Shorty gets to ride with K-Roc AND Dungy!!!! And Don't forget Shorty was top 3 every week in ( what was it ) 08? ( before Honda neglected to sign him then, he went to KTM)
Honda didn't sign Shorty solely because of Tomac riding the big bikes next year. ( IMO ) I think you're going to hear about a bidding war over that kid between GEICO and factory Honda. ( won't that be a stacked team! )
But, on the other hand, KTM will have Dungy, K-Roc, and Shorty. I think they are sending Musquin home next year.
Yamaha seems to be the odd team out.....again!
smiph: You asked, " What happened to Geico Honda's vacant KW14 slot?"
I can answer that question with 2 letters: E T
Fired up about this! How can you not root for a guy like Short? Best wishes and I hope that bike fits...
This is great news - hoping for many good rides from Shorty. As for the KTM 350, it is obvious by now that KTM was detuning that engine for 2011 and 2012. What made it to the production line wasn't a good indicator of what bike can do. The 2013 is finally uncorked and makes more HP than the CRF450. So the bike is capable, but you still have to wring the snot out of it.
