Cole Seely was doing really well (before crashing) on the 450's when they went east last year.
Who knows if any of them want to with the stacked/healthy 450 field. Seely went 6th at ATL; 19th (over-under bridge) at St. Louis; 17th at Daytona and grabbed a 5th at Indy; but CR, RD and JS were all out with injuries by Indy. A 250W guy riding a 450 on the E and grabbing a top10 might be tougher than it's ever been. It would be great to see the top 3 250W guys go for it, the 450 LCQ's would be stacked.
Roczen and Seely are not strong enough for the 450.
Tomac is a machine on a 450.
Sipes and Cunningham should be on a 450 all the time by now.
Seely and Tomac could do the east to stay sharp.
Stewart should have been on a 450 from the start based on his weight.
Anderson stay on a 250 for now.
Roczen can't really decide. Could get hurt testing as well as racing. KTM would love 94 and 5 winning sx titles in the same year.
Malcom you need to get on a 450, your to heavy for a 250 and it really hurts your starts and you end up riding over your head (crashing...) to make up for it. Hit the gym and move up I feel you would benefit the most from it.
I think a better question would be which one shouldn't. Tomac, Seely, Sipes, and Stewart? Definitely. Maybe not Roczen just because he has the most to lose.
Tomac,Seely would be good.Cunningham raced the 450's a couple of years ago and placed in the top 5 in the main event.(i think it was Vegas)
Personally I would love to see Tomac and Kroc both ride the 450's. The risk is probably arguably only slightly worse under racing conditions than it is practicing and testing. And it would help keep them fresh. But I think Mookie NEEDS to ride a 450
Why is Stewart even mentioned?? Oh yea--his brother.. he has never even gotten a podium, and he gets press again, what a joke..
@motodog--Stewart was at Indy, he was not injured by then last year..he raced heat 1 and crashed, git carted off, but he was there..
It would be a mistake if Tomac and/or KRoc rode the 450s in the east. There is no way roger would let Kenny do it now. And I cannot imagine Geico letting Tomac. These two are in the hunt for the title and they do not want to risk injury.
However, I would love to see both of them in that class. Next year Tomac will be there as well as Wilson I would imagine. Looking forward to 2014 season.
@mofo - yep, JS7 didn't get hurt at his compound after the Daytona win, I was just noting what podium threats didn't line up for the main when Seely grabbed a 5th at Indy. Would be tougher for a 250W kid to get a top 10 this year in the big boy class. And I agree with you on MS37. No way a faster bike is going to get him better results and keep him from crashing, whoever thinks that doesn't know that he's not his brother.
"Roczen and Seely are not strong enough for the 450."
Ha. Roczen came 2nd at Seattle on the 350 last year, and 2nd on the 450 at the German GP. He is even fitter/quicker this year
it doesn't make sense to race a 450 in a race that doesn't mean anything. If you in the 250 points challenging for a title you run the risk of losing title and ruining your season if you get hurt.
every time I malcom in the top 10 he crashes himself back to 20th. Another case of slowing down to go faster and finish a race and just maybe get a good result. If he hasn't learned by now, I guess he won't.
@DJ - the field was depleted when Kroc got that 2nd at Seattle, RV only made it 1 corner, no JS, CR or KW, and RD had just come back from injury and was only preping for outdoors. No way the kids would run up front in the current 450 class right now.
The obvious choice is Tyla. He is 450 bound for the Nationals anyway.
HAHAHAHA you guys.
Roczen, Tomac, and Seely could all ride 250s and still top 5 if not win 450.... Pay attention.
F***
Oh, I think Roczen killed all those guys on a 250, remember?
Roczen's lap times on a 250 are already as fast as most 450 riders, so I don't see why you dudes are doubting him. I bet he would top 10 in the 450 East, but he won't ride cause he's going to win 250West.
Top 10? lol
How about Podium to top 5 EVERY race.
Same with the Alien Boy ET1
GUARANTEED
Dungy RV and Suprisingly DM are the only people that can piss in their cornflakes.
In a inteview after Saturday Tomac said he plans to get on a 450 Tuesday and race Atlanta. He didn't want to race 250s. I agree that KRoc has too much to lose. But he could do well on a 350.
Roczen and Tomac would both do well but at least for Roczen I'd not let him race because of the title.
One option is mission though - Tyla Rattray. I dont know how long he plans on racing that little bike but he's way too big and old for the bike and for the class... if he gets back to his old self I see him inside the top10 possibly some top5s; outdoor maybe even podium
I don't think Tyla's size is to blame for his lackluster results. Whatever his problem is now would most likely carry over to the big bike. Eli probably is similar in weight to Tyla, Stewart is bigger and finishing ahead of Tyla. He must have other issues.
Tomac is pretty far back for a title and looking to move up to 450s anyway, so the more experience he gets on them now, the better for when he's really going to make a title run in the big class.
Racing the east also keeps you focused and sharp, as opposed to getting bored and possibly making a mistake while putting in countless laps at the practice track.
Mookie needs to get on a 450, it'll help him big time.
I knew it would come out, the "Roczen already has lap times equal to the 450 guy"....Anyone who has ever raced different bikes knows, that 450 is a whole different bike than the 250.. It is harder to handle, hits harder, has alot more power, and is so much harder to ride, especially in supercross....If you dont realize this, you shouldnt be commenting on here..CAN Roczen ride a 450, sure, he is a top rider in the world, top 10 for sure.. But he wouldnt have a chance of winning, not this lineup we have..He couldnt beat Barcia on a 250, much less now with Barcias 450 experience.
All of them, who cares go for it. You never know.
All of them, who cares go for it. You never know.
Are you guys kidding or something ... Not strong enough or size ... All of them would kick ass on a450...Tomac really could win a main right now with this field he has proved this at the MEC ... But all are strong enough..lol... The real question is what team needs a young rider to fill the rig due to injury???? Answer is thankfully no one .... Finally a year without major players dropping like flies..BTW Iam knocking on wood as I type this...
Maybe none of then???? Just robs valuable points from guys who need them dearly........250 class definetely has riderS capable of snatching top points. Beginners' luck somehow kicks in.
i think it's already been stated Roczen is going to ride the 350, so he's out. We already know Tomac is made for the 450 and honda... Malcom Stewart is just to big for the 250 and would be more at home on a 450. But since the team is having financial problems, i doubt we'll see him on the 450 this year. So my vote is for the MAC!
Go get'em Eli!!
therealmofo : they must have good crack in your town.
Zach Osborne should be able to mix it up in the top ten.
If I was Rockstar Racing management I would take Nico Izzi out of the East Coast 250s and put him on a 450 (provided he is ready after his knee operation). Why? Because he rides the 450 pretty well, see 2012, and he can possible be useful for getting between Millsaps and the other contenders and sucking up some points.
The other obvious choice is Eli. Unless KRoc has a mechanical or tosses it away, that title is out of reach for ET. So put him on the 450 for a few rounds to get him conditioned to the intensity for next year. My only question, what happens if he's running in front of other factory sponsored Hondas like Canard and Reed? Will Honda be telling him to ride with consideration to the riders they have in title contention. Could be interesting....
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH Mofo.... (in a peter griffin voice)
Roczen beat all those guys outdoors in the weather, humidity, and heat, you know REAL racing. Where you grow up riding... OUTSIDE. Not this 3rd gear specticle called SX. For these guys, not us, half these guys arent even sweating after a heat race in SX. A 250 guy riding a 450 inside for 20mins.... aint no thang.
I prefer MX to SX any day of the week (but still love SX) - and for sure MX is more physically demanding than SX - but anyone who thinks 20 race-pace laps on a SX track are not physically demanding, obviously has never done a race-pace lap on a SX track.
@waldo... where ya at?
If you were referring to moi, i never said such things......
And yes you or I would be struggling after the holeshot... but fire up the pvr and watch the interviews. These guys are super human. But ask them what is more physically demanding.. and if a 250 guy could hang onto a 450 for 20 laps. Im pretty sure if you can qualify for a 450 main, you could lay down 20, and be competative
Even though it would be cool to see Tomac and Kroc on 450s, its just not smart when they are fighting for the west title. To risky. Cunniham is awesome on a 450 and rides much smoother on on and has no risk as far as his 250 points go the same for Seely. Seely was awesome on that 450 Honda fill in ride last year and his 250 title hopes are gone.
@dakat324--The question said --SUPERCROSS-- or cant you read???? That was the question.. And WHEN exactly did Roczen beat any of these guys outdoors?? Only at the sh!t track at the Des Nations, and that was a singular one-off race..
And riding that 450 might not be killing them as far as exhaustion, it wasnt my point, just that it is an animal to control the power in the tight confines of a supercross track.. All the top guys admit so, its hard the first year.. You havent done it, so how can you deny what they are saying, they do it for a living..
Malcom should. he is way to big for the 250 and will excell on the 450 and that would be a great way to show it.
@pizzacorner Roczen is more than strong enough for the 450 he has been riding 250 since age 13.
