Thor Weekend Racing Recap
In the 450SX class, Ryan Villopoto overcame two incidents that pushed him to the back of the pack. After getting caught up in an opening lap pile-up, and then going down on the third lap, Villopoto showed his speed as he came from 18th to finish the race inside the top 10 in eighth. Villopoto sits fourth in the standings, 14 points out of first.
Josh Grant had a solid showing in his heat race, where he led nearly the entire time even after twisting his ankle in the middle of the race. Despite the set back, he shot out to a mid-pack start in the main event and was running well until an injury kept him from continuing. Tyla Rattray also competed in Anaheim, but was unable to qualify for the main.
The KTM Junior Supercross Challenge made its return after a short hiatus. The riders took on the supercross track in style as the young racers sported Thor Phase Splatter racewear.The second annual King of the Motos race was also held over the weekend in Lucerne Valley, Calif. The lengthy 180-mile competition is a race known for its technically demanding course, and Thor’s Taylor Robert and Destry Abbott decided to take on the challenge. In the end, Robert was able to finish on the podium in third, while Abbott finished a respectable fourth.
