Gary Semics had a pretty good racing career and it's been surpassed by his teachings for the last couple of decades. On this BTOSports.com Racer X Podcast presented by Thor MX, Semics talks about his career, how he got into teaching, working with Jeremy and why it just didn't work with me.

He was the first holeshot king. Now its Barcia.I pulled dozens of holeshots because of the tips on how to do starts from a motorcycle mag back in the 70's.
Yes I remember SEmics he was reakky good! Gee I guess only Fred and I remember him? It is a great time to be one of the people that can remember the beginings of our sport!
I went to a one day class of his in 1990 or 91 when I was racing 125 novice in Colorado - that was a long time ago but ya he was a good dude and I remember he had some good cornering drills that I still practice.
It's nice to hear Gary is still so active in the sport from racing Loretta's as well as teaching his classes and producing videos. His concepts of teaching that he talks about on the podcast, are surely a large part of his success in his schools and coaching.
He was always a contender for the top box back in the days of yester-year, and today in his field.
PS I have to pay Matthes kudos for producing a very informative interview. Great questions presented to, really one of the pioneers of American Motocross. It was like listening to, "This is Your Life, Gary Semics." A well spent hour, in my opinion.
And I never knew Maico's were as temper-mental as Gary states.. Ha,Ha,Ha!
