A GREAT series- do not miss it.
This season has been the best so far. Listening to their personal struggles, it shows it's not the glamorous life everyone thinks it is. These guys need to bust their ass year to year to keep things going. Motocross is a tough sport at both amature and pro levels.
I'm a fan of every single one of these guys for sacraficing and persuing their dreams racing dirt cycles. Very few can do it and those that can deserve all the respect in the world.
Anyone that boos or harrasses any of these riders need their teeth kicked in. Motocross is a family and lifestyle and you're either in it, or your a fair weathered poser. There's no in between IMO>
I want to see more. A half hr. doesn't cut it. They have 2 one hr. torcs shows per week. Love the shows just want more .
I love these shows, but I'm a life-long rider, so they're preaching to the choir with me. I'm afraid that new fans will see these latest episodes and walk away with a negative impression. Or worse, young parents will view this and decide not to get their little kids involved in our sport. We've seen this side of things, now I'd like the producers focus on the positive a bit more... a great family sport, the human spirit overcoming impossible odds, etc...
Seen them all ( I think) VERY Professional stuff if you like me like to know EVERYTHING there is to know about racing
I agreed with the comments; this is an excellent show, and should be an award-winner for a documentary series. Even my wife loves it, and she isn't a motocross fan!
This series did show the darker side of racing, but that is the reality. It certainly could prevent a few kids (or parents) from gambling and going all-in on a motocross career, but is that a bad thing knowing the expenses and rate of failure? Of course I want to see the industry grow and I would hate to see potential recreational riders / weekend warriors scared away from the sport, but I also hate thinking about dozens of home-schooled kids who the vast majority will be stuck with low-paying jobs for the rest of their lives because they couldn't make it at the highest levels.
Anyway, good discussion, which is a testament to the show :-)
Damn..they went deep with it this season; showing how ugly this sport really is.

This was my first viewing as Comcast does not carry FUELtv, (personal problem) and I would have to say this episode was very realistic and, (slap in the face) reveling about the participants highlighted. Hahn, Chisholm and Grant. What impressed me (or depressed) was the revelation of this last 2012 outdoors season that with 3 races left there were only 5 riders with inked contracts for 2013. I realize there are a number of riders now in the middle of December that have been picked up 2013, but that said;either this sport is much more economically sacrificed that I had imagined looking from the outside in, or some serious investigation into sharing the wealth down the rest of the gate to the other 35 riders to keep this sport flourishing at the top. That or I am just getting soft in my old age.
PS That deal within the Grant family has to be a complex issue that cannot be explained on TV in 10 minutes, or there is damn good reason for all these, "going postal" shootings taking place, as of late. (just a little bad humor on my part, my bad) Seriously, that is one bad ordeal !!!
@ CaseyPons - I mean there really isn't much more to sy about the Grant family problem without getting too personal.(Remember this is MX, not Jerry Springer) Simple as his Mom spent all of his $. It's f'ed up. I had no idea that happened. No wonder he hasn't rode up to his abilities. I feel for the dude. That is the ultimate betrayal by the one person he should've been able to trust with everything. Being stabbed in the back by your own blood? Yet alone it being your mother? Damn. I can't even begin to...Hopefully him getting back on JGR will get him back to where he was in 10'
I have been a life long fan of the sport since i was about 6 years old. I do not think this series highlights the dark side of motocross, but more a combo darkside of professional sport in general and but parenting. Financial management is one of our responsibilities as fathers, and teaching our kids that you dont spend what you dont have is very important. There are a ton of issues here. A father living his dream in his kid, the responsibility of providing your kid with a viable future, honouring your parents (episode 4 with Nicco Izzi). I honestly you would see the same re-occuring issues in a great number of professions and sports. Because of the heavy financial demands of motocross, these issues are magnified (a side note, i loved what the owner of motoconcepts said about painting the plastics black and not providing free advertising for the manufacturers). Ultimately what the show is presenting are real life issues within a sport and human mistakes. A faire quesiton to ask however is, is motocross truly a professional sport?? I remember when rugby went professional in europe (over the last.....10 to 15 years), it got to the point where players were earning salaries. However they have become massive in size now, and the injuries are becoming graver. BUT all the players receive a salary. In motocross (GPs and AMA) only the top 40 (250 and 450 classes included) actually receive a salary, yet there are 160 guys that line up each weekend in the two series. I do not think that it satisfies the definition of a professional sport. Within these 2 championships some guys do make a living, but they remain a minority. AMA and GP racing is not a professional sport.
i kinda liked last season better it was about the races. you watched the race and then later that year you got to see more in depth view behind the scenes on the moto inside the outdoors
Great show but in defence of the parents...there are 2 sides to every story. This show is just giving the riders side. Maybe of few episodes will dive into the other side so we can see those issues ( which being a parent have to be told too). I have a hard time believing a tatooed non- educated 20 something with a horrible attitude, punk. I'm definately not a hater of the show...just sayin

Yeah...my inclinations as well Dash. Having said that...motocross is a redneck sport and you don't exactly get university graduate parents sending their kids to the races. Not saying everyone that finishes uni is smart or wise, but just saying that chances are them being financially street smart are lower.
