Justin Hill to Pro Circuit Kawasaki

Wednesday, October 3, 2012 | 12:45 PM
Last night on the Pulpmx Show, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team owner Mitch Payton confirmed that in 2013 his team will be defending 250 motocross champion Blake Baggett, Darryn Durham and new members Martin Davalos and rookie Justin Hill -- who is pro rider Josh Hill's younger brother.

Payton was non-committal on running a 450 program again and remarked that he should know more this week as to whether that was going to continue or not. Tune in to the Pulpmx Show on most Monday nights over on Pulpmx.com

Wonder where Wilson and Rattray will end up. I could see Wilson with TwoTwo and Rattray with H&H under the direction of RC.

Wilson going to Jeff Ward Racing.

I don't get the Davalos pick at all. Don't get me wrong - seems like a nice guy, is fast SOMETIMES - but that's the thing. To me he's one of the more inconsistent riders. Sometimes great, sometimes way back, sometimes even in the same moto.

Thats an awesome choice. Justin is a fullfledged BA rider. He won 250b last year against STACKED comp and won a few titles this year before tearing his ACL. Hes def the best uprising star for sure but the only prob is he hasnt raced all year, so the last time he was against the TOP amautuer riders in the country was Millcreek in march. But I wish him my best

@ BillC... How about ten riders:
Cole Seely
Jason Anderson
Matt Moss
Ryan Sipes
Blake Wharton
Jake Canada
Justin Bogle
Kyle Cunningham
Matthew Lemoine
Malcolm Stewart
Alex Martin
Les Smith
Phillip Nicoletti

Further proof that Geico has signed the best talent the last 3 years running - Z. Bell, Bogle, (Bescalia & now J. Smith amatuers). Pro Circuit may have the best bike, but doesn't have the best talent of riders any longer.

Bill C. - still laughing from your previous post about the "gole" of the riders (instead of the goal) had me in stitches. You must be retired or something, because you literally hit every post with a comment (using correct and incorrect grammar). Too funny!!!

@Allthetruth, go blow somebody. Bogle hasn't produced shit. Bell is already showing injuries(2 crashes in his first 2 races). Eager to see how Osbourne will do. No doubt Gieco is the strong team coming into Supercross. Their biggest competition wilson is now on 450s. Can't really think of anyone else who showed a threat. Marvin and Roczen i think will be more productive with a year of sx under their belts.

Martin Davalos brings experience into the team and would be a good role model for the the likes of Hill and Durham, hes also got pace when he needs it, the only riders I can think of that actually have the ability to run race winning pace and beat Davalos when hes on his A game would be the likes of Wharton, Baggett, Tomac, Seely, and Roczen. Outdoors hes got a bit of potential as well, I could easily see him running 5th through 10th consistently as Mitch Payton and the team will likely instill a bit of consistency in him. And another thing, I doubt he'd have broken the bank.

My guess re Mitch & Davalos is Mitch maybe thinking that, given MD's sometimes awesome speed in heat races and then falling apart in mains, that he is a head case. And so, if you fancy yourself a good motivator of young men (as Mitch probably appropriately does), you wonder if you couldn't take this guy in, iron out whatever his glitch is, and then you have a guy who races mains like he plainly could, but presently doesn't.

Thought: how old is Martin? If he starts winning will he be called a 250-class cherry-picker here and Payton an SOB for having him? Just sayin....

Justin, congrats but please stay away from Josh and Jason.

Profile Picture
mxmadcunt wrote: 5:41pm October 3, 2012

hes 26 and hes been an AMA pro since 2006, so hes going to be considered a Veteran in the Lites pretty shortly. I reckon Mitch sees the potential with Davalos and looks at him as a project. Riders like Musquin, Anderson, Will Hahn and I guess Bogle etc just don't have that explosive pace that Davalos can occasionally produce, I see riders like Anderson and Bogle as the next Tomacs and Barcias but at the moment, they're under contract so Davalos is the best option. It'll be interesting to see what Mitch and the team can do with him.

Steel Pony - Are you kidding? What do you know about MX or SX. Bogle has shown tons of potential. I believe he finished 2nd to Dean Wilson last year (his rookie year) at Pala and has been slowed by injuries this year. Zach Bell was riding the wheels off his bike the first two pro rounds of his career this year when he got hurt. Riding at that level and being a new pro for both Bogle and Bell is unreal and well beyond what your panzy ass could do. So Shut your hole and MYOB. Geico riders rock and that group led by Mike Larocco is the "elite" team for the pro 250 class.

I'm with BillC here. DAvalos will be winning so will durham. Justin Hill is one fast kid. look out for him on the podium. he's faster than a few of the geico boys. I hope mitch makes larrocco look bad in 13. He will

Remember when Mitch grabbed Ivan? He was ok, but not a stand out. Good speed but inconsistent.

Mitch's program turned him into a champion. Davalos could be a similar scenario, at least a consistent podium

@allthetruth-. Your just as full of it as BillC. I cant wait to see Bisceglia get smoked. he's too scared. And no, Bogle hasn't proven anything yet. at least martin davalos has won a main event. toronto 08

Z Bell
Accident prone and may go the way of Hepler if not careful. IF careful then speed may suffer.

Bogle
in his second year may be where he should, but 5 guys stepped it up! Now two of the 5 are gone, but a couple of first year prospects could chalenge his spot or flat take it away.

Tomac/Blake
Should be their championship(s) to lose. The real threats are on 450s, but the upstarts could step it up

Dean to JWR - Done
Barcia to Handa - Done
Broc to H&H on Suz? Likely
PC 450 team? perhaps Tyla?

@allthetruth He got 2nd behind Wilson at Pala and what year was that??? Please inform me of something recent. I'll back you up that Gieco has the biggest potential of a championship with last years champs. Just don't fall into the rookie hype. Good god was Zach's speed was incredible. Doesn't do much when you are hurt.

canadianmxfan wrote: 8:26pm October 3, 2012

is Blake Bagget on the 250's again? Why didn't Blake move up, now that he's champ! HE's only 20....HE will win again in 2013!

Davalos is getting old, i don't see him fighting for wins against Tomac or Bagget!!!

Some good teams out there and amazing riders, can't even guess who might win in 2013...NO one can possibly know who will be the champ!

@codjh9~ I agree with you totally about Davalos. He seems like a nice guy and is capable of podium but the most inconsistent rider of all time. I don't understand why Payton would want him.

Profile Picture
UPSMAN16 wrote: 8:50pm October 3, 2012

Baggett is staying down for 2 things, 1 title defense, 2 more experience which will be valuable when he does make the switch, JB did 4 yrs ET will be 4 this yr and unfortunately they came up just short. I believe this will be 4 for Blake , 3rd at PC and one on Suzuki. Even the GOAT did 3 outdoors.

codjh9 wrote: 9:38pm October 3, 2012

Thanks jw621557. Very inconsistent. MAYBE some of the others have a point, though, when they say Payton may be able to 'level him out'. We'll find out next year!

Profile Picture
canadianmxfan wrote: 10:12pm October 3, 2012

Mabey they have to get him on some ,"super powerful vitamins"!!! If he starts winning and riding really agressive then we know it was the "vitamins"!!! Cause i don't think good ol Mitch could wisper anything in Davalos ear to make him start to win races!!

IT will be the special vitamins!!!

Townley is gonna go 22 motosports. I just dont know why mookie turn down that spot. KTM are good bikes but i still think the PC bikes have an edge over orange

DAVALOS BLOWS. I like him, but he isnt on there level. Well for 2 laps he is ;)

Profile Picture
carlsbad wrote: 1:47pm October 4, 2012

Of the available riders, Davalos was the best pick. Let's not beat around the bush, PC isn't the powerhouse it once was. There was a time that PC literally had the pick of the litter. Racers begged Mitch for a shot (Stalker Matt Walker comes to mind, among others) and didn't sign anything until the PC team was set in stone.

Now, that just isn't the case. Mookie & Musquin staying orange and Jason Anderson staying yellow are proof positive of this.

This certainly suggests that times are a changing.

MXGuy214 wrote: 5:32pm October 4, 2012

Remember what Mitch did for Tadesco... He was descent, but inconsistent on Yamahas. Mitch brought him in and Ivan won him 3 liters champs. Not suggesting Martin can duplicate that, just saying...
