Anyone else think this track looks terrible or is it just me? this looks nothing like a national track and I am from So Cal and even I am calling it terrible...

I wonder how long its going to take to realize they need to stop experimenting with all these different local tracks and just go back to Glen Helen. Its the only National caliber track in So Cal worth going to..yes I know its a love/hate relationship with fans and riders but its seriously the only real good track a National can go to

@mxkasey446

I thought the track looked pretty sweet. Nice fluffy dirt, it's going to rut up good.

What about it looks terrible exactly? Looks like it's in better shape than a lot of the other Outdoor tracks.

Finish line jump looks really dangerous though

I thought the track looked really sweet! That finish line hybrid jump is sick! The track looks like it has a lot of cool, rhythmic jumps where the riders can carry a lot of speed. Hope it's a good race. Anyone know if JS7 is racing this weekend? Go Tomac!

Looks wicked to me! Looks like it'll have plenty of places to pass as well. Will anyone try the uphill triple? Motoconcepts really to change the colors of that bike, its so ugly. How about all white? Then any splash of color those freaks decide to put on it wont look so gawdawful.

It just looks to SX style with the the rhythm stuff, the huge supercross style finish line and i few other things...I saw the virtual track map vid when that got posted and saw all the comments with people saying it looks like a outdoor Supercross track and I was hoping it that was just the vid and it would be different but it really does look like one big Supercross track and that has been a big complaint I've noticed on comments saying So Cal if full of outdoor Supercross like tracks. I dont mind the dirt from what I can see but that is probably the only thing I like about it...Hopefully it will be better in person and I guess I just like the big hills and really fast pace and really rough track that was at Glen Helen

Like my Grandma always said "Opinions are like Buttholes . . . Everybody has one !"
It looks like the owners put alot of money in the Track with fencing, Tunnels, ect., and people should give it a chance. I don't think any of you are spending that kind money in support of MX.

For starting out with flat ground to begin with, it looks like a lot of work has gone into making it into something other than the Fat-Track it was.
There seems to be a lot of underlying politics involved in this choce for the final National and I guess I should be glad I know nothing about the particulars.
One thing for sure is, in two days we will all find out how the riders feel about this hot bed of controversy.
I would just hope the riders go into this event feeling that it is as safe as any other track they have ridden through-out the rest of the series.
Time will tell...

PS You are never going to make everybody happy, that is for sure. It is way too easy to criticize with your finger tips behind a pseudonym. I am just sorry to see this great season come to an end. It has been a great US Motocross National season.
Thanks to the countless individuals who collectively have (made) it all happen.
It has been an outstanding effort by so many.

"Long Live Motocross," and those of you that make it happen!

Sorry about the typos Fat=Flat, choce=choice (My Bad)

I think its a good idea to vary the tracks up some every few years. Why did Pala get taken off of the schedule after only 2 years? Politics or logistics like parking, etc.?

Motocross: Raced on "Natural Terrain" outdoor track . A concrete base and some walls and its now a SX track. IMO, it just isn't MX without the hills/peaks/valleys..

It's so cool watching them practice when they're riding freely. Great camera angles!

250 race is shaping up to be one for the ages.

The super highways are in vogue now with the cookie cutter layouts taking over. Now we need a retractable roof with plush stadium seats, parking lot attendants, instant replay scoreboard and cooling fans. Oh and don't forget your tailgate rig to sit outside all day and look cool.

Looks kinda desolate-flat scrubby desert. I'm sure 20-thousand fans will brighten it up. But I agree with the sentiment that the promotors have obviously put some big bucks into this place. Most of us don't/can't. So I hope it goes well for them, and I hope it's some great racing for the riders and us fans.

I am sure they put alot of money into this track. I hope they plan on adding grass or something to hold the dirt. One crazy wet winter will was all that hard work away.

It will be interesting too hear what the riders / fans say about the track when it all over. It will be some good racing no mater the track in the 250 class.

Pretty good points by most. Yes Elsinore looks 200% times better than it used to be and the event will be well run. Fact are facts though, this is not a true outdoor track, much like Pala. Flat ground with man made obstacles - however rough-is called SX. GH and Hangtown are the only true outdoor National caliber facilites in CA. Shame the 250 outdoor championship will be decided on an SX track.

Profile Picture
bmasho wrote: 11:52am September 7, 2012

There are a lot of good reasons to have the outdoor finale in Southern CA. The track is close to where most of the industry have their headquarters, and the fan base is big.
Aside from that, it should be obvious that other than Glen Helen, Southern CA tracks do not come close to capturing the essence of motocross, like a Unadilla or some of the other National tracks elsewhere in the country.
A National track built in a desert riverbed with a bunch of man-made table tops, doubles, and rhythm sections provides great practice for a high-speed Supercross race, but does not reflect what the National outdoor series is all about. The aesthetic and feel of the facility is just average at best.
Racing is racing, and the competition on the track will be fabulous, but please - at the very least - move the finale back to the natural terrain of Glen Helen.

I'm just glad they faded out the super lame music in this vid when the bikes hit the track!
WAY better hearing the bikes than the crappy noise they usually mix over the top of them. Good job Mr. Francis!

@bmasho...You are 100% correct!

Have to agree about Hangtown and Glen Helen being true motocross, not supercross outdoors, tracks. Looks like the promoters added a little elevation chahge to the track but it is what it is, as the saying goes. Also it's too late to switch over to another track at this time. So let's hope there is some good racing and no one get hurt. I wish Saturday was here already, so I could be kicking back watching an awesome 250 final round.

Everybody seems to love Glen Helen ....now...lol Lets see how Elsinore works out ...and as for the layout..everyone has to ride the same track...its in SO CAL which is desert not woods...and its not race day prep YET....A tree would be nice though..lol .lets actually watch a race and then see what the riders and fans think...I think its great someone is doing something to try and ADD to the sport and building for the future..I grew up racing Elsinore and Perris ...there is serious motorcycle heritage there...i wish them luck...

What about Cahullia or what ever its called? Saw a video of that and it looked hilly and nice. These tracks are getting to fast and the jumps to big. Last year at Pala..The big ass rythym section that Wilson was leaping over was just stupid dangerous.

Profile Picture
Gills wrote: 10:49pm September 7, 2012

Honestly if anyone thinks that Glen Helen is any less hardpack than any other SoCal track they obviously have not ridden there.Glen Helen does have some amazing elevation and is great for spectating. Elsinore ( I have only ridden there once ) isn't as bad as people make it out to be. They mix a ton of some kind of mulch into the dirt and it works pretty good, the hardpack is still underneath, but it holds water and keeps the dust down, the track is going to end up rough. The layout and elevation are all man made and that is ok I figure. There are enough stops in the schedule where the tracks are more outdoors and less SX so give it a chance. The spectators are going to suffer in the heat, there's no place to hide from the sun and very few trees to speak of out there, I don't think it is going to be a track you can see a lot of from multiple different places....but maybe I am wrong.
Pala was politics and frankly you can't get anyone in the know to say boo about it so that is just a big guessing game.

Profile Picture
dirtbikr117 wrote: 12:27am September 8, 2012

They took Pala off the schedule because the track lost 2 million in the last two years running it. They just couldn't make up for all the track work with gate admission. LE does look like a supercross track but it could also give the fans a good race.
Gills - If you think mixing mulch into the SoCal dirt is good, then, you need to come to the northeast and ride some real tracks!
