So, is he an amateur or a pro? I have lost respect for these cherrypickers. You know why more ex-pro's don't do LL, because they know better.

@vistajim Exactly! a VET race. The guy just wants to race still and have fun. At his age he wouldn't last at a pro national. Never compare a vet pro race to the big leagues. A amateur national B class would completely destroy the pro vet. But you wouldn't put all those B riders straight to pros would you? (very little do)

LL age classes should be for guys that never could go pro (A class ok),gives them a chance to experience a national championship. but it will never happen as long as pros or ex-pros keep snatching them up and taking a lot of the qualifying positions.most of those guys had their heyday at the ranch when they were amateurs.I'll say it again a post pro class would be great.

I've said it b4 and I'll keep saying it - LL's is an AMATEUR Nationals and has NO PLACE for ex-pro riders except in an expert class or a pro class!!!!!!! Vet class be damn!! DD is NOT an Amateur Vet in ANY stretch of ones imagination! And our petition forthcoming will show that we do not want them in our Amateur Vet Classes! Period!! It is ONLY allowed because of Coombs warped sense of whom is and is not a Pro that they get in there in the first place. - Then they all dominate the Vet classes - how the hell is THAT fare to ANY true Amateur???????? - Total BS!!!

VistaJim: Obviously Doug is Pro... just as he is at any race that he attends. There are certain races where the Vet class is an open class, beg-exp. such as Loretta's .

Why are you so harsh on Doug? Did you not read the article and see that Wardy, Lechien, and Ryno are also joining him? Do those sound like amatuer names he will be racing? Or how about Mike Bell, Chuck Sun? David Thorpe?

Don't post without using your head, the guy gives back to the community more than most and loves to race motorcycles. Afterall, it is the VET class, at this point in one's life racing should be about having fun with the family, it is not like there is a career on the line so pump the brakes.
