One who does not take their talent for granted, will recognize their short comings, work to overcome them, and continue to raise their talent
Congratulations to Ryan Dungey, his family and his team on winning the 2012 450 Championship of the Great Outdoors!!!
here is the thing i have heard villo saying in the podium that with all the top guys injured it makes the championship easier rc did it as well when james didint race that night and dungey wont say a thing about that bd25 i know you like dungey and you are very respectful but saying he prove it this year with ktm, yeah right he prove it against ma800 lets see if he can do it again next year with rv,reed,jb,and a helathy js7
BD25 said it right. Plus as most of the top guys say "You have to be in it to win it".
alezx9....I think Ryan's dad was referring to those who doubted KTM and Ryan proved it is a championship caliber machine. Can he win the title again next year, I don't know. What I do know is, on any given day he can win, as he has beaten all of the riders you have mentioned, and as I have said before, with so much talent on the line, I don't think any one rider will dominate, so consistency will play a big part in winning the championship. Ryan may not be the fastest or the flashest but he is the most consistent (15 2nds in 2011) and that alone will give him a chance to win more championships!!!
But lets go through the list of riders you give to see if Ryan will have a chance:
Lets start with James, he is very fast and Dungey hung on his fender all through the first two rounds, so speed wise very close, but James seems to crash a lot, always has, that is why he only has 3 big bike titles, inconsistent, (rule one the fastest do not always win titles)
Reed, great supercross rider but outdoors we will have to wait and see which Chad shows up, the one before the crash at Millville or the one after, who struggled to maintain the two Ryan's pace...
Barcia has a lot of talent and will be a player, but there is a reason only two rookies have ever won the big bike title, it is a mental game as much as a physical one and big adjustment to full time in the premier class...
RV, no doubt one of the fastest men to ever race motocross! He and Dungey put on a great show last year, exchanging wins. Once they improved the Kawasaki, Ryan's C&C went up and he went on a tear, won 5 of the last 8 motos to secure the title. He is the one who would give Dungey the toughest challenge. Now that Dungey is teamed back with Decoster, on a better motorcycle and his C&C level is up, it should be a toss up again between the two Ryans...
Some are quick to say Dungey would not have won the title if RV, CR, JS were on line against him, true enough it would have been a bigger challenge, but I say why not, he has proven time an time again to be their equal. He is as fast as any of them, more consistent than most, so he would stand as good or better chance to win the title, as any of the riders you mentioned. So I will simply ask you: Is it that hard for you to give credit where it is due?
you are right bd25 you have really good you know im an rv fan and correct me if im wrong but i think you like mx a lot more than sx ill give dungey credit and im glad you recognize that in 2011 once rv got his 2012 model he was faster than dungey even in the mxdn de coster give him the number 2 and rv had to wait for dungey to cross the finish line together,
you have really good observations its what i meant
@alez
If RD did not get a DNF last year he would of beat RV Straight up.
Next word.... punctuation.
alezx9....Yes, I do like motocross more than supercross. Supercross is more about timing and not as demanding of the rider. It is also more dangerous, a small mistake can be disastrous for the rider, as we saw so many go down last year, however it is very entertaining and easy to put on TV, which helps bring our sport to the masses.. I have accepted supercross as motocross's ugly step sister....
Glad you cheer for Villopoto so do I, love to watch him ride..same goes for Reed, I was cheering him on as he tried to run Villopoto down in Dallas ..I cheer for Dungey, cause he is kinda of the under dog, an seems to not receive the respect he deserves for what he has accomplished. I am just a fan, who appreciates all the hard work each one of the riders puts in trying to live the motocross dream.
thats right i agree 100%
@BD25-You have such a way with words, my friend. And you have the ability to see things as they are. I have to say, I like to read your posts! Pretty much have to agree with you too. But did anyone else hear RD say "my girlfriend." Never heard him say that before. All the gals out there that are all wanting him all the time. I wonder if that one comment will hurt the female side of his fanbase?LOL
Bucky..Thanks for the kind words!! I always try to see both sides, just because some one has a different view point than mine, does not make it wrong, nor mine right...just different..be boring if every one agreed, plus we would never be able to expand our own thinking...Hope all is well in ZF land and look forward to my return next year!!
alezx9: If your boy will ride more like the Dunge rather than Stewart, he might stay healthy and have a chance to beat RD next year. You need to quit your crying son because you are in for a surprize next year. Dungey, for the first time since 2010, will be on a proven bike with a history for set up while being on a proven team. Add to that that Dungey is older and better now and all you "yea but..." whiners are gonna have to shut up soon.
motoxwannabe i cant wait to the next sx season even if you are a dungey fan you know he is not as fast as rv and in sx? get real check the lap times from this years sx events your boy was at times A FULL SECOND SLOWER THAN RV PER LAP and rv will be even faster in 2013
here is the way i see it speedwise (based on this years overall lap times) the fastest rv1 no doubt has the fastest lap time in ALL THE RACES BUT ONE js7 he is the only guy that could hang with rv but crashes all the time, reed and in fourth place is YOUR BOY and then trey canard this guys are the fast five and this order is based on lap times THE ONLY TOOL WE HAVE TO KNOW FOR CERTAIN who is the fastest guy out there
@alezx9--I am a huge RV fan, but I do remember RV having to make a last turn pass on Dungey at Steel City last year, and Dungey running with RV at Pala, all while RV was on his new Kawi, Dungey is as fast as anyone when he needs to be.. Congrats Dungey, you are a champ..
And the only gauge we have with Stewart running with RV is supercross, and I have seen Stewart finish 4th place at his best season when RV was there.. I dont see him running even Dungeys pace for an entire season.. Stewart hasnt done anything better than 4th place in the standings for a few years now..
therealmofo i was talking speedwise james crashes a loot but im talking lap times he is fast i dont like him that much but he is really fast when he stays on two wheels you have to give him that
@alezx9--What about your comment saying Dungey cant run with RV?? He ran with him all season in outdoors last year.
therealmofo if you read carefully im talking sx and in mx we will have to wait and hope both of them are healthy for the nationals 2013 my point is no one can deny that rv came way faster in 2012 than in 2011 at least in sx and we didint had the chance to see if he was faster than 2011 in outdoos as well
RD did a great job with the field he had to battle with. With that said you still have to put an * in front of his championship and the two other 450 * championships. He knows it and so does the rest of the motocross/supercross Fans. all and all it will go down in the records as a championship and in years to come people wil forget he didnt have to battle with one of the most stacked field of championship riders all not running against him. Hey how about the great racing in the lites class sure saved the excitment in the outdoor season this year!
I agree that RV was WAY better off than the other top guys.. Reed was running better than Dungey or Stewie also.. Laps times mean NOTHING to me.. Especially if a guy can run that fast lap and then crash, doesnt make him as fast or faster than anyone.. Just means he hung it out way to far.. Any top pro can run a lap as fast as Stewart does, then crash.. That means nothing to me.. One race doesnt either.. Its about winning for an ENTIRE season.. That is the fastest guys. And the last two years, Stewart has been 4th place.. or worse.. Not bad, and I am not bashing him, its just the facts..
