US is going to have its hands full with France and Belgium, and with some spirited rides and a little bad luck for others, Germany will be in the mix as well. I see the French being the closest to the US this year though. Belgium a close 3rd and Germany sleeping in 4th.
Top 10 teams brand breakdown
Kawasaki 5
Suzuki 4
Honda 4
ACU 1(what the heck is ACU??? Husky???)
KTM---12!!! 12 friggin factory bikes out of the top 30 and we only had 1 American riding them here in the US. Talk about a brand trying to take over the world!!
rattray not racing for south africa ? where the hell is canada ? iam sure they can send faciotti and cole thompson , and klatt ?? USA is looking good !!! france is got a good team to !!!
Rattray is having surgery after Elsinor, Canada don't care, and France won't podium. USA, Belgium and then Holland, with Germany, GBR and France fighting over 4th IMO. But crazy stuff always happens at this race so it's anyone's guess. I got a feeling USA won't win a moto on the sunday though, heard it here first lol
and ACU is the AMA of GBR. Dunno why it's in the bike list though :/
it will be between usa, belgium, germany, and team GB.......france will struggle....palin isnt that good in the sand and cp dont like bumps!! marvin will be there best man...
cant wait for the mx1/open race!!! when u look at the names that will be 1 hell of a moto!! if herlins wins that moto....there be no doubt his the fastest sand rider in the world!! he hasnt got a team...he will want to win that moto bad!! i hope he dont!

It will be so interesting on the sunday to see 2 250 guys race in the MX3 class as the main dudes of that class. Herlings vs Barcia. That IMO might set the whole weekend up. MX2 class ain't as stacked as it has been, but it should still be quality, Bagget, Roczen and Musquin, not to mention Van Hoorebeek, Osborn and Nichols. And the MX1 class should be very interesting Dungey vs Cairoli vs Desalle vs Pourcel vs Nagl vs Searle. A start is going to be critical.
I meant sunday when I meant saturday between Herlings and Barcia
If de reuver is fit. Netherlands will find the box. Yeah the aussies , single digits for the B team. good luck
Australia got screwed this year with Reed, Metcalfe, Moss, and Byrne all out with injury.
My Predictions:
1. Belgium
2. United States
3. Germany
4. France
5. Great Britain
Beyond that its anyone's guess, because none of the other countries have more than 1 or 2 decent riders.
Only shm1x, mentioned Team Netherlands? I know (oops already forgot his name) is the weak link in MX2 but, it is their home track.
I think Belgium will be strong too. Maybe the best overall.
I would take Cairoli and Herlings for MOTO wins and overalls for their classes.
Fortunate for us, unforturnate for them, is that they are the only quality riders from their countries. We have solid riders for all 3.
@ looper148 Don't count out BARCIA in the sand of the 450!!!!! He was comming at southwick when the honda blew up.
BARCIA WILL WIN IN THE SAND!
@Racer-X; Thanks so much for posting this MXdN rider list by Country. I have been curious as to see what riders show up in the MX3 Class. I am still not completely sure if the MX3 Class is open to displacement usage at the discretion of the team, or is it always a 450cc bike and not open for other displacements.
I will say this, not having the (other) Ryan at the party, has to be the best news of the year for (all) other teams. Belgium, Germany, and possibly France are probably the only three (team) possibilities (if everybody stays healthy) that could make a run for the Top Box, besides the US. But, lets not forget, this is Motocross, and it is the MXdN, and when you enter in the (Nationalistic) pride factor, anything can, and most probably will happen.
I am just happy to see this storied event take place, as it is a little bit of history in the making each and every year. It has to be such an honor for each and every rider to just be chosen to begin with, let alone the outcome of the event as a whole. It just seems so fitting to end the season for the National Teams all over the world to compete, in this way.
And last but most definitely not least, every year I think to myself, "How fortunate for the United States to have Roger DeCoster, to thank for all the years that he has dedicated to (us) in the states to help develop the sport of Motocross, as he has."
You are indeed, The Man. "Go Team USA"
cmon any other team bar usa, time for them to lose!
I think smee113 is probably on the money with the top two, other than that it really is a lottery.
France sound good on paper but CP and Paulin are not especially renouned for their sand expertise, Holland's MX2 rider Coldenhoff is capable of some solid results so if De Reuver finds some of his old magic Holland could potentially make the podium; Nagl & Roczen will be very strong for Germany and their MX3 guy Schiffer is fairly decent sand rider and we (GB) have three pretty solid sand riders too. Estonia might even be in with a decent shout with Gert Krestinov and Tanel Leok too!
It will almost certainly come down to which team crashes the least.
Agree with Casepons - Very thankful for Roger DeCoster for all his years. Good luck to everybody, Go USA!
800 should be there but he did not kiss DeCoster's ring. I lost alot of respect for Decoster with the Barcia pick. Consistency matters most of all at MXDN as you only get to drop one moto. Sadly it will be Barcia's. Lets just hope he does not have 2 bad motos. You can say what you want about 800 but you can't say he is not CONSISTENT.
Well, Team USA certainly has its work cut out for themselves. I wish RV1 could have made it. I wish JS7 could have made it.....
I do have faith in our team though. They are all strong riders, and that being said I think that Germany has the potential to be the unlikely hero here. Nagl is riding very strong on his comeback and Roczen, well he is just good ol' Kenny ready to toss some sand in some faces.
France looks like a good team but, they are just so damn inconsistent. As always Belguim looks strong too.
Did anyone catch the team mangers name for Mongolia? I think he should win an award just for that! Its so dang cool!
So much could be written about this match up and its tough because it seems like we have to compare Team USA to the world so we immediatly pick them apart. Will Dungey be able to make passes when needed? Is Barcia really that fast in the sand? Will Herlings dominate all both of his motos against the bigger bikes? (yes probably.....) Did we level the playing field by not having RV1 on the team? (yes probably.....) Can Bagget pull through this year? (I think he will have to for us to have a chance....) It seems like some years we send a "B" team, due to whatever reason that is unavoidable. (Injuries.....) I sometimes forget that our "B" team is still very strong if not stronger than the rest of the world's "A" team. Every year though, the level of the rest of the world's competition gets stronger and this year is no exception.
May the force be with you Team USA, and may your thottle cable be longer than the rest. (Wait... do they even use a cable anymore?.....)

team GB were at lommel yesturday.....word was antie was flying on the 450....nichols lives in lommel....rides there alot....tommys bike broke....so didnt get much done.... last time we won way back in 94 thorpe had are riders riding together alot before the event..... dont count us out!!
Remember Herlings beat Villopoto last year in a moto, and that wasn't in the sand. They will be strong, but they don't have 3 strong riders, imo. I think France will be tough if they bring their A game. Hopefully Baggett's bike makes it 2 motos in the sand. PC bikes and sand normally don't get along. But at least they have more support in Europe now with their team.
someone on team usa will have mechanical problems...
@2003RACER8M Only people who haven't seen Herlings ride in the sand say stuff like that lol we'll see dude, so pumped on this race, wish we got to see these boys battle more than once a year though, but I guess that's what makes it so special.. Bring on the Nations :))))
September 7th, USA team is good but not its best...(RV1 injury) Baggett has been beating Roczen and Musquin consistently all year. Barcia has at long last found his speed and is showing the same dominance that Baggett has shown. That all said the France, Belguim, Italy...are very good teams also and could easily win. mechanical breakdowns, bad-starts, falling, will tell the story. USA has limited their mistakes..at least more so then the other teams. Germany, England, and a distant Spain have an outside looking in shot at winning...but could challenge for the podium.
I thought Pourcel was out?
Pourcel is out the date on this is August 30th.
