Congratulations to Ryan Dungey, and the whole KTM team for there outstanding effort for 2012 Motocross season to date and New Champion 450 class with 2 rounds left. I love a guy that has a plan and sticks with it. Never wavering from it and executing it. Great job ! This was a race full of all kinds of story lines. "That's what motocross should be". Tough track, and a challenge for all. 250 action was just as exciting congrats to all again. Nothing is a sure thing in motocross, this is why you race till you cross the finish line and receive the checkered flag .. GREAT STUFF !
Hoping Tomac runs the table on Barcia . He should of ggot the nod for MXDn.Anybody says he doesnt ride a 450 is all BS and never raced they all ride all bikes guaranteed .Show up at even a local pro race you will see them on all displacements ! Been happening since even before Adolf Weil days ! Back them they raced all world championship classes even on same weekend!
wheres @rene rampa-loser-lust/
I don't think i know the standings?
KTM has planted the big orange flag into the American motocross history book! While it has taken them a while to accomplish their goal, they have never waivered nor backed down from the challenge. In going out an securing Roger Decoster's services, they solved a big piece of the puzzle, as his knowledge of the American style of racing proved invaluable to them. Signing Ryan Dungey was other step towards success, as his work ethic and focused approach to attaining a championship mirrors the dedication of the factory itself. Congratulations to the entire KTM motocross team for its unparalleled domination of the greatest motor sport on earth!!
Mr-MX - here's the thing. Barcia has raced a 450 in a AMA national against the fastest guys in the world. He also has experience overseas. Barcia has more experience. Maybe get over it and back the guys that are going.
Mr Mx agree with you on it being a race for the ages at Dilla this weekend! The track was rutted and treacherous, challenging the racers on every jump and turn! To those who suffered injury at the Dilla, moto fans wish you a speedy recovery, to those who conquered the Dilla and finished the demanding event, a BIG THUMBS UP!!
On the selection of Barcia over Tomac, are both great young talents and if the selection would have been made a week later, Tomac might be going instead. Just guessing on this, but Justin being a better starter though out the series, may have played into the pick, as much as his sand riding ability. Tomac winning out would be great to see. The young man has shown next level racing at several events this year just as Bagget has at the others. Who would have thought Barcia would be in the title hunt because of his consistency...The 250 class has been so exciting to watch this year in the Great Outdoors!!
Since the 250 rider was already selected in Baggett then Tomac was never even a canidate in my book. The only reason Barcia was even originally considered was the fact the he did so well on the 450 last year in the few rounds that he raced, and also that he did so well in the sand at Southwick on it last year, where as Tomac ha only raced (in a National) a 250. Alessi would have more than likely gotten the nod honestly than them selecting Tomac on the 450. Also, Barcia is moving up to the 450 full time next year. This is kind of like 09 when RD raced the 250 all year then jumped up to the 450 for his first race.
Congrats to Dungey and KTM on a great day and great outdoor season. Also, good for K-Roc finally breaking through and getting that moto win. Congrats to Marvin on his first AMA overall. He's not hard to pull for since he's friendly and humble (unlike another Frenchman who was here in recent years).
It appears Baggett truly did learn from last year to make sure and finish the race rather than going all out for every win.
A great day of racing at my favorite National track. The weather was possibly the best I've ever experienced at a race.
We received updates on several injured riders yesterday, but no word on Zach Bell? He was on the ground for a LONG time before being carried off. I hope he'll be ok.
@ MR-MX and BD25
Well said, and i agree with both of you. And i think this is just the beginning, next year they have a new 250 and Ken and Marvin will have a year under there belt.
It would not surprise me to see more satellite teams use there bikes, it would be a great fit for JGR! Who knows, Ryan and Ryan on orange
Also, well done Zach Osborne on a podium finish in only his third race back after injury. Sounds like a great event over in the U.K. this weekend, topped off by Tommy Searle's home victory in MX2.
And how about Bobby Kiniry? 11th at Unadilla on Saturday; third at Walton up in Canada on Sunday. Busy weekend!
Riding a 450 in practice or a local race is one thing but racing one in a National is another. If that were not the case then I would go sign up for a national in the 450 class. LOL The simple fact is Barcia has 450 experience with proven results Tomac does not. Tomac needs to get consistent and the MXoN is bases on being consistent with starts and finishes.
@ Expeditionary Citizen
Nobody said that I wasn’t backing the USA Goof us............No I don’t back them I guess I'll back Georgia...............Get out of here.............I think you better give up on Alessi not being picked we all know why! .............He would never cut it on the GP scene anyway....His old man would be run out of Europe on next train to Stalingrad. au revoir!, salut! Pepe LePew Get a real F^ckin name like George or something............Or just find a life you key board f%g
@Expeditionary Citizen
I'll make sure I pass on a big hello to my friend from you also
General Douglas M. Fraser
August 18th was a pretty easy day to be a KTM fan, I can say that for certain. Musquin getting his first O/A the same day Roczen gets his first moto win was a big hurdle for the team and the positive results should come much easier now that the goals have been realized / achieved.
@ retired-promxer, I agree with you in theory but, I don't believe it will happen because DeCoster just got gold for KTM for the first time in the premeire class so, it's going to be about what he wants, and he doesn't want to step aside or share spotlight with JGR "just yet" or "as of now" .........you pick the last phrase that fits best.
I can imagine JGR KTM's would exhibit a high degree a awesome!!!
Mr-Mx: Wow. A little harsh on your response there maybe? :) I love Tomac but, let's be honest, he wasn't riding NEARLY as well as he has been since the very day they picked the team. I am pulling for him to beat Barcia every moto for the rest of the year though and I think he may do just that. Maybe not being picked has lit a fire under ET and he'll use that to kick butt from now on.
RCRDDW
GRANTED !
I have a feeling we're going to be talking about E. Tomac every August / September when MXdN is the topic for about the next 7-8 years.
