Les Smith Injury Update
Monday, August 20, 2012 | 2:30 PMWhile running inside the top ten in the first moto at Unadilla on Saturday, Langston-Witt KTM’s Les Smith planted his foot in a corner and heard a pop. Smith would ride two more laps before the pain became unbearable and had to pull out of the moto.
I spoke with Smith earlier today via text message and he confirmed that he has broken his fibula and will be getting a plate and screw inserted on Wednesday. Initial reports are that Smith will miss six weeks—effectively ending the rest of his 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross campaign.

Smith and Byrner both broke bones in their legs with no wreck. What an odd injury...
