Martin to Make Pro Debut at Southwick
Tuesday, July 3, 2012 | 2:20 PMLOS ANGELES, CA – Star Valli Yamaha Motorsport, LLC. is excited to announce that elite amateur motocross racer Jeremy Martin will join the Rockstar Energy Yamaha-sponsored team’s Pro ranks with a multi-year contract, starting with the Southwick National in Southwick, MA, in August. Martin will also campaign the #146 Rockstar Energy Yamaha YZ250F in the 250 class for the remaining rounds of the 2012 AMA Pro Motocross season.
“The whole Star Valli Yamaha Motorsport team is excited to bring Jeremy out for the last four national races after Loretta Lynn’s,” said Star Valli Yamaha Motorsport Team Owner Bobby Regan. “We’re all pumped and ready to go. Jeremy’s the top amateur in the world, as far as we’re concerned.”
Martin, 19, has amassed numerous amateur titles and awards, including championship-winning results and accolades at the prestigious Mini O’s, Ponca City and Loretta Lynn’s. This last season was Martin’s first year riding as a Star Valli Yamaha amateur, though he’s been affiliated with Rockstar Energy Racing for several years. Martin is looking forward to making his Pro debut with the Star Valli Yamaha crew.
“Signing a multi-year deal with a premier team like Star Valli Yamaha is a huge step in my career,” said Martin. “I’m really excited to see where it will take me. Star Valli Yamaha and Rockstar Energy believed in me from the get-go and have stood behind me with every decision I’ve made. They are a great group of people – with their hard work and my dedication, we’ll do our best to put the Rockstar Energy Yamaha YZ250F on the podium and hopefully get their first-ever championship.”
The next event for the Rockstar Energy Yamaha team is the sixth round of the 2012 AMA Pro Motocross Championship on Saturday, July 7th, at the RedBud National in Buchanan, MI.

I'm looking forward to seeing another Minnesotan going against the best in the world. His brother,Alex, did real well at Southwick last year. I think there may be a grain or two of sand on the Millville track.
Great job Alex.hes also bringing along a great mechanic.Darren Stading
Congratulations Jeremy! I wish you the best of luck! Hopefully there will be two Martins on the podium soon.
IN a year or two maybe an all Minnesota MX des Nations team. Dunge, M & M!
YES!!!!! I have been waiting for this! As much as I like to watch Alex, this will be twice as good. M-X will be a real treat to watch for me with both the Martin boys out there. It is always better to watch a race when you know some of the competitors. Now we willl have the another brother show to watch. Gonna be good. Good luck to the both of the Martin boys!!!!
At 19 he should be more mature. Does anybody know why they waited?
I respect their decision to wait till he was 19 to turn pro, but it still seems strange to me.. Roczen and Herlings were winning GP's at 15......
First off that's another country. They do things a lot different over there. Second, the age limit to go pro was 18 then they changed it to 16 just so Ken could race SX last year. So him going pro at 19 isn't really that unheard of. He just turned 19 any who. Aside from that I can not wait to see how he does. He's an amazing rider who talents stronger than any other amateur in his class.
I'm thinkin' (just my opinion) they wanted a few more titles in the amatuer ranks before they made the move. With a couple, I should say a lot of coverage in Moto Playground magazine, it gave back to the sponsors. There were some pretty intense battles at some of those events. And they were well attended.
Having seen both Martins ride, and the energy the boys put into racing will be enough to make MX more exciting. I was at New Orleans when Alex had to win the LCQ and then holeshot the main. It may have been short lived but that is the energy that makes this sport exciting. With the brothers competing against each other I think Alex will step it up even more. I wish the both of them the best and cant wait till Sat. to watch Ryan kick some butt at Red Bud. Next thing to do is take a loan out cause with two boys racing Johnny Land will be even more expensive to race. lol $20.00 responders? Red Bud is only charging $10.00 See you at the RACES!
Who?
hahaha!
