Come on Ping, show us that you have some speed when youre doing these videos. Loafing in the corners! Shame shame!

I've never been here. The scenery is beautiful but the track looks boring, especially for spectators. And why is Ping on a different brand of bike in every photo and video?

Ping rockin' the Dungey edition huh. Also, uh, beautiful and all, but I think I counted like 4 jumps?

Although reading the subtitle of the article again, it did say "Vet Weekend." Is that all I have to look forward to as a vet? 0_o

Who cares how many jumps the track has? Really. Getting to ride in that killer scenery at all just once a year is EPIC. Riding is not all about the jumps unless you are just into FMX. I would rather see awesome scenery like this, a fun winding layout with some awesome higher speed sections, and great weather to be out riding in.

Ping is riding a different color of bike in each photo/video because he can!!!!

BRAAAAAAP!

This track would be sick if it had a few more jumps or rhythm sections. Awesome layout, scenery, and dirt...don't understand why they don't add a few doubles...

So much critiquing from people who arent even there haha. Hell they probably couldnt even qualify for the main on this track with no jumps.

That is well beyond the point. If I'm going to be excited about vet/pro racing, I want it to be exciting. I never said I could do that track...

RacerX - please don't do ads before your videos. It didn't work out well for Transworld.

best place on earth to visit.... but the track is boring as hell. needs more than just a few switch backs after the down hill section

Bucket list, check. Who's the least afraid of gravity goes the fastest. Pingree that was sweet and with a 2:15 head start you could be right up there challenging the Orang5 Locomotiv5!

Did he clip the tree @2:12? Common it's not a supercross track, let's see how easy you think it is 30min + 2laps later.

Lets see, it's a classic MOTO-CROSS track, NOT supercross. This is what the tracks (the good ones anyway) were like when moto was coming up through the late 70's early 80's. It's about speed, and endurence, not air time.

lol anyone who is saying this track is boring or does not look fun either has never been there or is too worried about getting huge air which in that case ride FMX....For the people who have not been there its probably the best track at least in Cali to ride and its probably the most brutal track to ride when you add the high speed straights and hills with huge bumps going up and down the hills. and to top it off the dirt is always changing some spots its soft and some spots its really slick and then add the big factor with the altitude and running a 10 lap race out there lets see how people that talk smack on about this track would do when the track is at its roughest doing 10 lap race lol i bet they would be done after 5 laps

I have not been to Mammoth yet and I'm sure the overall scenery is great, but right around the track is just spotty grass, rocks and some pine trees. What matters is how fun you think the track is, the dirt looks good.I love jumps but with all the elevation change it still looks fun.And if you are looking at the scenery while you race you probably won't do well.

HA Any way good to see Ping out there in the mx world again he is a good rider and Go Pro opens up the track to people like my self who have only seen the mag pic's. Thanx Dogg

I have a helmet cam and it always sounds like i'm just dogging it out there. Just remember, he's on a 450 and they can't be ridden like Barcia on a 250F it's not all about the revs, but smoothness, look at Dungey or Windham. of course w/ Ping you'd think there would be more revs to keep that Hagen-Daas afloat. LOL. Sorry Ping!

tisk tisk ping, no finger on the clutch lever and front brake lever? also, love that lazy 450 lug haha. Seriously though, this track looks alright, but that's about it, I don't see what all the hype is about.

Mammoth Mountain is by far one of the best motocross tracks I have ever ridden in the US. The jumps aren't massive but the layout and the dirt are amazing along with large elevation changes.
As for "wringing" the 450 out it also has an elevation of nearly 10,000 feet if I remember correctly. My body doesn't even work well at that elevation in the first week let alone a motorcycle.

Wow a lot of commentary from people who never been there, but bet you also think Unadilla when it was a natural track was boring. First raced mammoth in 73 till 80 always fun. Mammoth was always a race every top MX’er would attend. Watching this video not a lot has changed as to track lay-out but it was rough and at 8K+ you would be sucking wind after 10 min and now that the races are shorter and EFI yea maybe not as much a challenge ; yea right at 8K+ even the best will be sucking wind. Was and still is one of the last of the three premier races in Ca. Elsinore GP, Hang Town in Plymouth, and Mammoth. All those that think it is boring giver a go it will be a life changing experience. Hope to make it back next year after 32 year absents.

^for real, almost everyone baggin on the place seems to have never been there. I raced there every year for 8 years from 80s to 250fs. the track itself is killer, and its one of those ones thats a blast to ride even with the 10 jumps on the track. its technical as shit, the elevation is intense, and the uphill start doesnt make things any easier.

You really know it's truly a vet weekend, when there are more spot-a-pots then jumps...God, I hate getting old.

I love Mammoth and Pingree rode fast during the race, I wish Racer X would have had more of a presence during Vet weekend like Transworld did and covered the vet weekend.

As others said, if you have not raced it... you will never know. It is video of a practice lap with one guy "getting around a track".

There was a video from last year's vet pro race that has MC battling Ryno that was some of the best racing - classic battle of two guys who never give an inch. Final moto of the day, the track gets sooo nuts.
