High Point Practice Report
Saturday, June 9, 2012 | 11:55 AMWelcome to the fourth round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, coming to you from the gorgeous, rolling hills of High Point Raceway. It’s a beautiful day here at the FMF High Point National, and with the weather report calling for clear skies all day, it’s shaping up to be an absolutely fantastic day of racing.
As to be expected, Ken Roczen, Blake Baggett, Eli Tomac and Justin Barcia all look very fast, and it’s reflected in their practice times. Roczen was fastest in the first practice with a 2:10.860, and was one of only a few 250 riders launching into a set of rollers off of a sharp jump that most riders are opting to single. When the second sessions rolled around, times actually got faster, indicating that the track must be developing nicely. Marvin Musquin used the improved conditions to his advantage, shaving nearly four seconds off of his fastest lap from session 1, and qualified faster than anyone, including the 450s, with a 2:08.740. Baggett had a small crash in the second qualifier, which created an electrical problem that caused him to miss almost the entire session.
In the 450 ranks, Mike Alessi topped the field in session one with a 2:10.949, while Nico Izzi continued the impressive streak of speed he’s had of late by laying down a 2:11.383. James Stewart was considerably off the pace in the first session, and when the second session got under way, he again looked to be in survival mode, hovering outside the top five and cruising around the track. Then, just as we’ve seen so many times before, Stewart lit the fires on the very last lap and topped the board.
In WMX action, Tarah Gieger was fastest, and with Ashley Fiolek out with a concussion, Gieger is looking at a great opportunity to break the stranglehold that Jessica Patterson and Fiolek have on WMX wins. For a complete look of qualifying times, go here. http://results.mxsportsproracing.com

Stewie in survival mode?? Looks like he was just feeling himself out to me. Maybe he could do it for one lap, we will have to see if he can do it for 35 minutes, twice.. I think he will be fine. Let that wrist heal Stewie we will need you for the Des Nations. Show those Euros we can ride the sand too.
Stewie just being Stewie!! Loves the drama. The Dunge is gonna grind one out today cause he's a RACER!!!!!!!!!
You are an IDIOT RCRDDW!!!!! I like Dungey a lot too, but you really need to get off his nuts and stop making comments like that!! Why all the hate dude!!! YOu think JS is not a racer?? HE has a bad day after being perfect so far and you think he is not a racer?? Go away d-bag!!
....and Go Bubba!!!
Again VOR just attacks for no real reason, you need to get a life. A guy is a fan of another rider and VOR takes issue, and tells him to "get off his nuts" Sounds like VOR needs to get off of Stewies nuts to me. He NEVER said Stewie wasnt a racer, just said Dungey was.. You are so ate up with it its unreal..Every comment about another rider isnt an insult to your dreamboat VOR.,.
therealmofo maybe you need to read a few more threads to see where VOR is comin from??
@realmofo...you are a waste of time dude....you are the one who needs to open your mind up a little bit...we all know where you come from, you have never said a good word or looked at anything from the middle of the road when it comes to Stewart, and that is what i take issue with...not just the simple fact that somebody doesn't like him as i could care less about that!! Like BillC said, mayube you should read some of the posts that i am responding to......fella!!
Stewie will salvage some needed points. Probably still hurting a little. Dungey kickin butt today...Alessi can't hang. Missing Villopoto.
Stewart , glad to see your going to race, they questioned wether or not you were in shape to go 30+2 im from texas not to many hotter temps than that we know you got that covered, didnt even look like you broke a sweat, know its your injury just do what you have to do, hope to see some good racing, hope everybody stays safe, Hope MC and his wife Kim are able to find a donor match, motocross head games, stewart cruised around then set the fastest lap, i think he will salvage a 1-1
@BILLC, no I dont, If you would pay attention you would see where I am coming from. I have NEVER seen VOR make any comment on this site other than to slam, cut down or insult somebody, and its always about one rider. He has NEVER made a contribution to any conversation, said anything of any substance, just a cut down or bad mouthing a fellow blogger. Its all he has done ever. THAT is where I am coming from since you want to jump in there BillyC..
@VOR, I dont care what point you say you are trying to make, you never say anything about a race or moto or nothing, just insults EVER. It gets old, and you must have a real boring life when thats all you have FELLA..Bro, whatever you are..
