Hmmmm, was that straight up? Or do we have some excuses?
Yes UR he'll have an excuse going forward. The Dunge is getting better and better and I think everybody is realizing it. Imagine if RV, CR and TC were out there now!!!
Yeah just imagine if RV,CR and TC were out there the Dunge would be fourth.
I'm proud of Bubba actually finishing in 5th. Nothing the matter with that under the circumstances. I don't know how the race played out though ... if he rode conservatively (and hurting) in 5th .... or if he blazed in 1st place and cartwheeled later. But like him or not, he's a great rider .... when he's healthy again he'll be back up in the top two ..... guaranteed!
rd is another cr only wins title when everybody is out never beats the best
@porcupinetree - I don't know what you mean, the best are the 40 riders that are out there. If I remember from about an hour ago, he beat them. CR, RV and TC are no better than the guy who got last place, right now.
are you mental
@porcupinetree
Pretty sure the FMOTP just got beat, so i'm not sure what you mean.
@porcupinetree.............I did not see RV, CR, TC on the starting line, so there for your comment is irrelevant.
If you have no facts to back up your statement, only your bias, then STFU. When you can talk about what is, then you will be listened to. Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda means squat!!!!!!!!!
RD looked in control, as the Katoom was handling the track conditions nicely. The best so far.
Finally got to watch a race live for once. Its nice all the idiots are back on the site.. People already saying Dungey can only win if the top guys are out. I do not think Canard would beat Dungey, I dont see how anyone can say he would, Canard hasnt finished a full season, so how can anyone know what he could do in the course of the entire year.. And Reed didnt beat Dungey last year either, so why he was brought into it I dont know either.. RV1 would be winning in my opinion, just my opinion. But he isnt So PORCUPINE, I guess Stewie can be thrown into that catagory as well, he NEVER won a title until the "best" reitred, Meaning RC. So he didnt beat the best either right?? Heck, Stewie has never beaten RV1 over the course of a season, or Dungey for that matter. Your theory is childish and stupid, the racers can ONLY beat the guys who line up at the track, its all they can do, period.
@Fred, what do you mean Dungey would be 4th?? Canard and Reed lined up against Dungey last year, and Dungey finished second, so I dont understand your statement..
Here we go.
all im trying to say rd will never win a title with top guys racing he won titles but rv wasnt there
All I have been trying to say is that if the "top guys" are not on the starting line each Saturday, how are they still the "Top guys"? The guy winning the motos is the top guy, no exceptions. Loyalty as a fan is one thing, but come on, these arguments are ridiculous over, he only won cause so and so. Get over it! you have to play to win!
No JS7 for 450 moto 2. Can you hear that?
Oh yeah, it's the fat lady singing. -70pts by the end of the day.
By now, you morons should have learned to never doubt me. I'm right 100% of the time when it comes to moto.
And another thing... Don't be surprised if he doesn't come back, even when his wrist is feeling better. Why?
Because he is a QUTTING ATTENTION WHORE, that's why.
none of of the guys on the line in these motos no they cant beat rd we all no that also
@uneasy-rider.....thank you. Very sane words.
@Chowderhead.....we do doubt you as you are just a hater. Talk about / Treat people correctly you will be taken seriously. You cannot say JS is not a fast racer. He is not a quitter, but is smart to not race at these speeds with an injury.
Kinda hope you will be a quitter when it comes to lame comments / hating.
@porcupinetree....you are making no sense????
That's about as straight up as we are gonna get this very young season. Has anyone noticed the tendency for the 'Zook's to kick out on the rear end when they hit square edged holes ? Stewart's last weekend and Alessi's (great save) this weekend and all the Alessi fans have to be stoked about his finishes. Having said that, crashing really detuned the body and I'm sure JS7 didn't get in his normal pratice and conditioning during the week. Dungey got a second with a broken collar bone in SX. I'll let you guys fight over who's tougher RD5 or JS7.
Jeez! ...... why do so many on here live in the land of "what might be" instead of the land of "what is"? I have no doubt that if RV, CR, TC and JS were 100% healthy and riding their best, and never had mechanical issues and never crashed (and, and, and) ............ that Dungey would not win as many moto's (maybe any) ...... but the Nationals isn't the 100 year dash .... it ain't over in 10 seconds. Fast and smart and consistent with reliable equipment and occasionally lucky ..... gets the championship and the big pay checks ...... always did and always will. I bet IF all those guys were healthy .... Dungey might be the only guy to win a Championship with never winning a moto. (ooops! now you've got me doing the "might" : )
Ooops ..... correction ....... "the Nationals aren't a 100 yard dash" .......
hey emig can you get off ryans nuts already, another win because james is not racing man i would be so proud to win that way, dungey sucks, dungey sucks dungey sucks dungey sucks dungey sucks, dungey suuuuccccckkkkkssssaaaaaa, sorry just had to get my point across.
Seriously "chowderbreath"......i want to know where i can have the opportunity to meet you somewhere buddy........be a man dude!! You need your ass kicked!! Yep, i said it and i mean it. C'mon big guy...going to Milville??? I am!! Red Bud?? I certainly could!!
Emig Sucks!! How long have he and Dungey been an item?? Jesus, can the guy rub RD's balls any more on air??? Talk about somebody having a mancrush on a rider.......Emig Sucks!!
Part of being a successful racer is not crashing and making the races. Dungey may simply be the best racer now.....out of everyone.
Fred and all the Dungey doubters are in for a surprise the next few years. He is 22 years old and just now starting to click with his new bike/team. FYI: HE'S ONLY GETTING BETTER. You should use this time that all your favorites (who don't know how to max their speed without crashing) are out to get used to it. And you'd better hope that KTM doesn't wise up and get rid of that aluminum frame.
yamaha645: JS7 = big talent. Dungey = big heart.
Can you imagine what the Universe would be like if Dungey went out with an injury and the title went to 800?!?!
By the way all you Emig haters. He's just finally realizing that Dungey has the best long term strategy to win championships.I wish the other media JS7/RV2 such ups would wake up also.He used to be like all of you "whooo wheee! look at Buuba scrub" or whooo wheee! look at RV foot off the pegs". THERE IS A REASON DUNGEY IS THE ONLY ELITE RIDER OUT THERE RACING!
yamaha645 & Emigsucks (probably the same) prove once and for all that "we mock what we can't understand".
RCRDDW, the Ktm does not have an aluminum frame. They use a steel frame
@RCRDDW...hey man before you start ripping on dudes too much you better get your facts straight.....KTM...Aluminum frame??? That may prove that "you don't know what you're talking about"!! hahahahaha. Before everybody starts saying that RD is the new god, remember he just took half the moto to get around the guy that he and Stewart left 45 seconds and 1:10 seconds behind at Freestone!!
Fred- things are not looking so good for Bubbles right now and Suzuki is going "oh oh"! Roczen, always the bridesmaid and never the bride. If you notice on channel 5 on saturdays they have oudoor lawn bowling, that looks exciting?
Wow KTM has a aluminum frame! We are 4 rounds into this season and anything is possible. Dungey's Katoom could go Kaboom and Alessi could be the 2012 champ? Nah, just kidding.
Love all the people who are ragging on Dungey because RV, CR, and TC are out, and now JS is injured.
What if Stewart had gone on to win the title? I could turn around and say "Oh, Stewart isn't a real champion because he didn't beat RV, CR, or TC for the title." But you know full well the people who are ragging on Dungey now would come to JS7's defence. Frickin' hypocrites, every last one of 'em.

@ RCRDDW
RD missed most the second half of SX due to injury....is that part of his elite strategy of 'maxing his speed without crashing' ??? haha
He's the fourth fastest guy right now....and RV has done alright with his strategy....and if it wasn't for a extremely fluke knee injury in a crash at a whopping 5 mph....things may be going a lot different this summer.
RD is a talented guy but I'll always pull for the guys who want to be on the top of the box....not guys who take 5 laps to make a pass because they're hoping everyone else crashes out!!!! Enjoy the rest of this lame ass summer.....
Go Roczen! It'll happen soon....
The Dungenators bike setup for the second moto was way off. It was so obvious as the Katoom bounded all over the track for the first 10-12 minutes. Then the Dunge figured it out and was able to pass MA as he should.
wow, some of you guys really take it rough when your boy doesnt start moto, or gets beat. Then all you spout is how much Dungey sucks and this BS and that BS, put another "asterisks" by that win. Get it through your heads, the FASTEST guy doesn't always win, get it? He usually crashes. We all know how fast 7 can go, and by now we should all know he falls down too.
It sucks Stewart is hurt and didnt perform well today, but don't be suprised if he pulls out of the nationals to make sure he is healthy for Supercross. Then what will be the excuse for another rider winning the Nationals?
If everyone was out there, us as fans would have had one hell of a summer of racing to watch, but they are not, so Dungey is beating the best guys on the gate, doesnt really matter who is out, unless you favorite is out and you bash everyone else for not liking your guy.
preston, you may be right, but now we wont know and all the talk means sheeoott. Your boy followed suit, crashed, is hurt and is probably out for the summer. Dry you eyes, send him some flowers and get on with your life.
Just curious how many of you actually ride let alone race a motorcycle. Seems most comments are quite uneducated. The fastest man is the fastest man right now and it always changes always has always will.
All you Dungey critics saying "he needs to get more aggressive", look what's happening now. It could very well be exactly the aggression of the other top riders that has them unable to contend with him at the moment. He's in the drivers seat now to tie both Villopoto and Stewart for big bike titles, and both have been racing big bikes for longer, Stewart for WAY longer. Fact is, Dungey can not only beat any of them on the right day, but he's doing it riding comfortably. If you look at the titles Dungey has lost on the big bike, he's still finished very respectably even after mechanicals with the incompetent Mike Webb at Suzuki, and an injury in SX that sidelined him for a short time (going along with the theme of 2012). Dungey had a tough 2011 with no confidence in his team manager (rightfully so with 4 DNF's), and in his building year with KTM he's already far surpassed expectations and is on his way to another title it seems. Look for him to be his best ever next year with the building year over with, his 2010 confidence back, and valuable experience under his belt in the class and with the KTM. I wouldn't say I'm a Dungey fan, I just love moto, and can't believe the disrespect this guy gets from the fans and the industry as a whole. He's as great a champion as they come, and is just getting started. Anybody else who lines up against him in 2013 will have their hands full, there are multiple riders who can take either championship, and that's what makes it so great. Let the racing continue, and don't ever count Dungey outside of the favorites. It amazes me the praise from the announcers for Stewart or Poto that gets repeated over and over, but Emig says a few good things about Dungey and he's crossed the line, and all of a sudden "Emig sucks". Dungey's THE best this summer, and will be again at times in the near future, get over it.
Straightup is what they did the first 2 races, both healthy James won.Riding with an injury is not 100% so that's a handicap......
Obviously, the 450 season has been a TOTAL disappointment.
At the same time, the 250 class has been pretty good ... so far.
Was at the Yoshimira Suzuki truck after moto 1 and a friend that works for Suzuki told me that Stewart's wrist was going numb during the moto and he also had a cold sensation in that area. This is the same wrist that has pins in it. He deserves credit for a respectable 5th place. Word is that he will be out for Budds Creek with the extra week off and come back for Red Bud. Alessi deserves respect too today as he was on the gas and held off Dungey for all long time.
To finish first you must first finish...Go 800!!!
lol it's so funny to see all you retards who still think Dungey is faster/better than Stewart yet Stewart is clearly battling an injury... for all of you who think he's making excuses you're f*cking idiots and you just feed off talking shit because you have no life and nothing better to do but sit on here and comment on every article mentioning Stewart. Like really? You think James is lying and went out there and got beat by people who are clearly not on the same level as him? All due respect to those riders because they are awesome guys and brilliant racers but seriously quit playing yourself. How many of you even race outside the C class let alone race a dirt bike? How many of you injured yourself and came back to aggravate that injury and then give it a week to heal and then ride on it? So annoying to see you dumbasses disrespect the dude when he is providing legitimate reasons for poor performance/absences. Props to Dungey on the win and Alessi for an amazing ride, in the end I respect all of the riders but you're an idiot if you think Dungey can dominate James like that straight up. They are practically dead even when it comes to speed and fitness and they put on an amazing show WHEN JAMES IS HEALTHY which he clearly proved in the first two rounds.
@Preston, completely agree. Over the last couple seasons everyone has raised their respective speeds, I think Dungey more than anyone else. First he was chasing RV around, now Stewie. Sucks the field isnt healthy, maybe 800 can raise his game too, but I wonder how good his equipment is, suspension especially.
Just think how fast these guys would go if all the players remained healthy for an entire year???? Unfortunately they were pushing the envelope in SX, one small mistake and someones hurt, Reeds crash was major resulting in a lot of injuries, RV's crash/low side was a freak thing, Stewie had the whole him and bike fight, because it was blatantly obvious it was the bike, sorry Yammy fans.
Dungey's bike looked like a pogo stick and he stiiiillll waxed everyone, I'm impressed! Go Alessi!
hope alessi, can give some battle to rd.. because seems 450 class is gonna be lame with out js 7..
I don't even want to think about it yamalink.
Yamaha 645. YOU ASS CLOWN! I don't understand hating on Dungey. The guy just shows up and rides fast, Stewart tried and rode great but to hate on the guy who won because your guy didn't is really weak! Aren't any of you JS fans wondering if he can race to a 5th couldn't he race to a top ten in second moto? Oh yeah, before you go there, yes I race and yes I have been injured. I assume we will hear there is a serious problem and he will be out AGAIN. IMO James seems to be ok winning occasionally and showing enough speed to still be considered among the fastest. The whole fight for the championship mentality does not seem to exist with him. It is only going to get harder to get a title with the speed coming from the 250 class!! Props to Alessi, great ride and moto1 podium speech was the best of the year. Way to go Mike, don't like your dad but you are making me a fan. Keep it up.
Some call 911 the Dunge is killing the 450 class!!!!!!
No matter what ANYbody on the track or the planet did wrong today ...@the real pukge -wrote .. stands atop the podium when it comes to cornholing dildo munching infantile 10 yr old moronic comments. Geezus..lol...You win ...we give. You are the mega ahole and an embarrassment to motorcyclists and motocross fans every where which is obviously your dream and goal.....congrats you di*k. The KTM and RD5 looked good running at 80%@yellowrider what bike were you watching ? thats the best the brand new never ridden KTM has looked since it was built yesterday,(really ..it looked great)..... ...but honestly ELI Tomac stole the entire show and looked like what an outdoor champion should look like in ANY class..what a ride...an KRoc a nice demonstration of smooth clean fast lines..just not quite enough....the 450 class better get ready..the new breed is comin...
The Wizard nearly went down HARD over that hip double jump. That was a serious moment. He's riding great. Props to James for the gutty ride in moto 1. Great ride for the 800! Love seeing a privateer team running up front.
Heartbreaker for Kroc. He will get there. I miss the flying squirrel. Don't forget the defending champ is out...I hope Wharton is OK. We need Prince up front.
Go Dunge, Go Deano!
Oh, Emig certainly doesn't "suck". Man is a legend. Respect.
LOL NOT BODY LIKE DUNGEY AND THEY THINK HE CANT BEAT STEWART, COME ON GUYS DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHATS MOTOCROSS ABOUT, THE GUY WHO STAYS AT THE END ITS THE CHAMPION NOT MATTER WHAT, STOP WITH ALL THAT THING ABOUT IF RV IF CHAD IF IF IF. CONSISTENCY WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS. ASK CHAD REED ABOUT IT.
... zzz ... 450 class put me to sleep ... sure glad i woke up in time to witness some more good 250 racing ...
@tonewall ---I agree 100%
Did James not make the second moto at all? I actually missed all of the racing today cuz we had a bunch of people here at our track today riding.
Congrats to Dungey and MA. For any championship consistency is king. Hopefully Bubbles can get healed up and finish the rest of the season strong. How crazy would it be if for some strange reason Alessi won the out door title....It is motocross and anything is possible....
BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
@the realpolesmoker-wrote/shrubnuts ..is that.. waaaahhhha waaaaaahhh in german because even my dog knows more moto than you ...the rest of your bullsh*t is stuff for the rest of us to laugh at.....rave on dumba*s...must be hard to work that hard for attention...I guess whoever crapped you is busy cookin meth and servicing 'uncle leroy'......
MR MX/puge/whatevernameyou use today...... this is in english ..F. U.
JS7 is a great rider the only thing that is keeping him from owning the record books is CRASHING! 20 years from now when people look at the record books no one will care who was the fastest, they will only see the champion.
Dungey should have beat RV last year if it wasn't for all of his mechanical problems!! You people are eff!ng stupid. This website sure attracts some idiots.
I have to disagree tonewall, Dungey rode GREAT, but I don't think I've ever seen him have so many "saves" in one race, to me his bike looked too stiff and all over the place, it was a very rough track and they all got a little sketchy here and there. I was just trying to give props to Dungey for doing so well on a bike that didn't look settled (to me).80%? I don't think so.
Mit12- when people look in the record books they will see 'records'. Stewie has a few of those so far.
I also noticed that the KTM 450 seemed like the suspension was too rigid and/or perhaps something else was the cause.
At the same time, it did not appear to be as evident that KTM 250 was experiencing the same types of challenges.
i think the top 4 of the 250 class would be in the top 6 of the 450 s even on a 250f as the 450 class is poor apart from rd, js and a couple of others what do you think????
Way to go 800...let the ridin do the talkin..as we all know anything can happen and does happen during the outdoors... being consistent pays off big time..
First of all, for me, I must admit, (again) that I have been as anti MA800 as they come. Just couldn't get past all the BS. He sounded very professional on the podium yesterday. Good job Mike. We all know you can ride, and now you appear to be turning into the type of guy people want to listen to. Don't go and do something to screw it up again! I like this. And yes, as we all know, anything can happen and he does have a shot at the championship. All that has to happen is for the Dunge to have a little bad luck, just like JS7. And we can do without all the hate and name calling on here. It does nothing but stir things up. Uneeded-unwanted. Love the predictions, comments, visions and ideas, but the whinning that goes on here is worse than a bunch of little piglets that can't find the nipple! And they cry "WE_WE_WE" all the way home! And the dungey's "strategy" seems to be workin' too his liking. Whatever works. I guess. And @ BillC-You ever hear anything from old toilet seat licker, Sloan? Bet he's on here with a new name. He was here too much to just go away. Sloan? (still funny)
Although a RD5 fan all the way, I would like to see a privateer win the title. What a kick in the arss for the factories that would be. MA 800,do it if you can, man. That would be cool! And would follow along with the saying "It's racing and anything can happen." Like we have witnessed this whole year so far.
hey someone took my ID
450 season is over until Stewart returns 100% healthy!!!
250's are the main attraction right now!!!!
"450 season is over until Stewart returns 100% healthy!!!"
I hope not! Can't wait another 4 years for a MX season!
Although I agree the 250 class is awesome this year!
@70racer and whoever else porcupine makes perfect sense ppl, its what has always been said and has happend, a championship minus the top guys. say what u want but dungey hasnt won in a field of equal spd riders, all we needed to see was one of 2 things this yr, a healthy #7 win a title against an equal n shut ppl up, or dungey to win a title with a healthy equal in the field to shut ppl up, but oh well shit happens, @ least the lites is doing good
Sometimes I pray that logic will seep into the minds of people on these boards. I cannot understand how it makes sense to anyone that the guys who crashed out, thats right, screwed up, had an unfortunate accident.....etc, are out of the competition and the winner outlasted them, therefore they got beat. Why is this so hard for people to grasp? You may as well pull out all of the retired riders and throw them in the what if file! Stewart had an unfortunate accident, so did Reed, Canard, Villapoto....etc, and guess who didnt? The rest of the guys out there every weekend, including the guy who people think has never beat any real top guys? Does that really make sense to you? Wow, logic truly escapes some people.
How was a healthy Stewart doing against a healthy, Reed, Villapoto, Dungey and the rest of the guys in Sx before he......wait for it..........crashed out? Got beat? Sat out for the remainder of the races with a what??????Hurt wrist, while he was negotiating/riding a zook? Really, c'mon!
Donkey punch is right, minus the top guys is hollow. That's why stewarts 08 undefeated season really isn't all that impressive ( to name one )
Hollow yes, but a title nonetheless. I bet whoever gets the title gets the same bonus regardless of who the competition is. I think the only reason anyone has won a title in the last 20 years is because Hannah has not been racing!
Congratulations to RD. See you at Budds Creek.
@ uneasy_rider
In fairness RD also had an unfortunate accident during SX causing him to miss a bunch of rounds so you're not entirely accurate....
RD, while unfortunate in crashing out of SX and foregoing any chance of a Championship was lucky to have done it early in the year allowing him to come back and be ready in time for the outdoors....he could easily have had the same practice crash a few weeks ago and been sharing the couch with RV and the others this weekend..
Strange moderating here. Comments with death threats stay, but other comments well within the rules are removed.
RacerX is an opinion rag published by a closeted cumdumpster.
@Ripdown
I didnt mean to include dungey, since everyone says he can't beat Stewart anyways. But don't forget that Dungey missed those rounds and still was in the top 5 in points, so that is pretty decent for a no riding hack?
Its just annoying to me that the very people calling everyone else haters are jumping on the Dungey's "paper titles" rather than giving him credit for outlasting the other "Greats".
@ uneasy_rider
I'm with you on that one......RD deserves respect for all his accomplishments....and I'm glad to see KTM will win a championship.....
I will say however, in my opinion RD may outlast most guys due mainly to the fact that he seldom gets involved with the other top guys.....choosing to follow rather than make it happen. RV, JS and CR only want one step on the box and push the envelope more to get there.....unfortunately their desire to be the best also lends itself to rehab stints.
I like the Dunge but I'll always pull for the guys who want to be the best...
Funny how the 'top guys' are nowhere to be found as the starting gate drops. I say the top guy is the one who shows up at every race and wins the titles, kinda like the goat did. Dungey- three titles + one record in first 3 years on a 450.
If this trend continues- the 'top guys' out injured all the time (Villopoto is at fifty percent right now folks) who will be the top guy in another four years? Dungey will at the rate hes going.
The season is not defined by who is not there. Only those who can make it to the gate are a factor. If you're not there, you don't count. If you are there, you have to step up and take it. Ryan Dungey has a firm handle on the situation. The second fastest rider, Mike Alessi, has openly conceded that he WILL NOT push to match Dungey's pace. Mike Alessi has openly stated that he will ride only as fast as he feels comfortable and will allow the misfortune of others to be his path to a victory.
I would imagine that any potential sponsors out there are somewhat turned off by a supposedly "top level" rider openly admitting that he WILL NOT dig deep to achieve the ultimate goal but rather, hope that it will be handed to him.
Mike Alessi has come a long way from the "Believe the hype!" days and it has not been for the better. He doesn't deserve to win a single National Moto, much less a championship. That family has been nothing but mouth since the day they entered the "BigBoy" arena of the professional level. They can go home and polish all their amateur trophies They are certainly faster than I will ever live to be and if they want to brag about that, I surely feel sorry for them.
Injuries have played a pivotal role in a far greater percentage of championships than any JS7, RV2, CR22, or any other apologist would care to admit. They say these things because they don't know the history of this sport. M/X has been around for many years prior to this current crop of riders and the "fans" who think the sport began when they figured out that it existed five or so years ago.
Be thankful that there is a truly dedicated rider like Ryan Dungey still in the mix. A rider who trains hard to beat EVERYBODY and doesn't feel happy to run second place but rather, pushes himself to get better by paying the price in sweat and dedication instead of riding around and collecting a paycheck.
James Stewart announces retirement...... stamp that.
Congrats to Dungey and MA. For any championship consistency is king. Hopefully Bubb can get healed up and finish the rest of the season strong
WFO_UFO I would bet when James carreer is over he would trade all those wins for a couple more championships. Just like Damon Bradshaw would trade all his wins to have that SX championship that Stanton took with less wins.
i ve watched every moto in last couple of years and i believe dungey is the best american rider..the best of all those guys..it is ridiculus for some people saying that he is on the top because the other guys are out..he is the toughest guy out there..last year he was better than vilopoto and but mechanichal issues in freestone and southwick took the championship off his hands..
Poor sportsmanship is a big part of why most haters won't acknowledge Dungeys accomplishments.
His stats will show he's better than all the guys he has competed against and doing it while on a new team, bike, etc.
It's too bad "Team Blue" will never acknowledge "Team Green" or their accomplishments but, that's human nature. Try to get a "Occupy" person to acknowledge a "Tea Party" person or vice versa.............a fruitless endeavor if there ever was one.
Dungey will keep on winning and haters will keep on hating.......
Alessi getting podiums (maybe a win this year?) has GOT to ruffle some feathers as well.........I love it!!
