Great ride by James. He looked soooo much more comfortable on the Suzuki. Great rides by Metty, Short, Dungey and Milsaps too. Dungey came from a ways back to catch some very fast guys. Remember when coming from the back, the higher you climb through the pack, the tougher it gets since the best riders are already there.
Sooooo glad the out doors have finally started. It will be interesting to see how James conditioning is by the mid point of moto 2.

Ya know, I would probably be a bigger fan of Stewart if his minions weren't so annoying.
James actually seemed more relaxed and humble during his earlier interviews. That is a good thing. Now if we can just get the Stewtards to be a bit more humble and realistic the rest of us may be actually able to enjoy watching him race.
Note to the Swetards: People that hated on James in the past pretty much hated on him for his own actions (taking out other riders, impersonating a cop, becoming a phony tv star, and not living up to contracts, not racing when he said he would etc). It would be awesome if many of us one time fans of James can become fans again. It looks so far like he is on the right track as long as he keeps the ghetto out of it.

Redneckrider - yeah, although I'm not a Stewart hater, I'm not a 'Stewtard' either. I particularly agree w/the 'taking out other riders' thing. I remember a few years ago when he knocked Matt Walker flat like he was just an obstacle on the track. I also remember Ben Townley doing that to Short at the MXoN at Thunder Valley, though, too. I look at it this way, other than Short and Dungey, who are you racing? Dungey on a new bike.. Short back on a honda, but not a previous Champion. There are two previous champions on the sidelines. RV and CR. I also try not to forget about Canard. So my perspective on JS7"s win today, although good, it's not great.

@poooky Please tell me you are joking, Dungey on a new bike.... Stewart got on the suzuki TWO WEEKS ago, dungey has had a full SX season on the KTM and has had the opportunity to start outdoors testing during Supercross season. If you recall to last season, Dungey had Poto and Reed covered the entire time, the only reason the championship wasn't his was because of the mechanical!

Alessi 7+3=10 Short 5+4=9 and Metty 4+5=9 and Alessi gets third??? this should be a tie between Short and Metty with Short getting third because of second moto

Just got back from the race..... awesome day and the first 250 moto was insane! BB showed some serious heart, stamina and speed to chase and pass one champ after another.....

Bubbles rode a great race and looked good out there riding his old self again. Also this has to boost his confidence. He will make the racing interesting this season and also shows he was not gelling with the Yamaha.The guy survived 2 motos and no lawn darting. I thought Milsaps also rode great and I am bummed that Tyla got hurt. Looks as though James and Ryan will have a long season ahead for them.
@yamaha645 - I chose the sign in name because I live out in the woods on 40 private acres with my own private track. I work from home online and I employ 126 people in 4 different countries. I own guns, dirt bikes, a couple of quads and too many stupid people on this forum and others have a problem with getting the terminology right. People like Suzukiboi, and Preston (one and the same???) always use the the code word "redneck" instead of outright calling someone a racist, which is what they really want to say. That way they can skirt the race baiting title they are absolutely guilty of earning.

I though it would be Short (ave finish 4.5 w/ the better finish in the 2nd moto) over Metcalfe (ave finish 4.5 w/ the worse finish in the 2nd moto) and then Alessi (ave. finish 5).

It so was the bike! Dungey's bike looked like crap..bucking him around like that and still keeping Stewart in sight. But we all know there should be an asterisk by this win...no RV. Stewart never could beat a redhead...just a fact fansuckers.

Anyway, James rode great, it had to feel great for him and he proved fitness won't be an issue. That is great because I think it means we are going to see a great series.
I think Dungey can go further with his bike development. Don't forget people, first year outdoors on the Ktoom. With no previous set ups to pull from, they did pretty damn good. Also remember Dungey finished second there last year to Reed and the year before he got 10th so pretty good start for him. Stewart on the other hand had Reed and Dungeys winning setups in the books and Metcalf is a pretty solid teamate to pull outdoor info from. Fot that reason I think James bike is a lot closer to where it will top out.
RD still needs to get way more agressive with some passing. Letting Alessi repass and then late in moto 2 when he was right on Stewart, he gets stuck behind some 3 digit that started with a 5?? It took him waaay too long to get around that guy. The 3 digit actually started racing Dungey after Stewart got by clean. Dungey needs to put a couple of those guys on the ground and then they will start moving. Just like Alessi was agressive with a repass however he showed no such effort when Stewart went by. RD has to earn some respect with physical riding at some point.
I am still picking RD. Glad to see Davi so solid in moto 1. Wish he could put 2 together. Also Shorty lloked good in moto 2 so BIGTIREGUY Keep watchin, I am rooting with ya!
Bummer about Rattray. Expected more out of the 32 Honda.
How about Hot Sauce on the 250? Ivan looked like he was having fun and he was fast. 250's are going to be great all year!
Bring on Freestone and I am picking RD to even up this title chase if he gets 2 starts like he did in moto 2.

Welcome back James. I'd thought you might come out and pull something like this off, I expected one, wasn't surprised at two. I don't believe it'll be as easy for you throughout the year but we'll see. Good job to Mr. Alessi for finally stepping it up. Hopefully, it'll keep getting better throughout the year.

BillC: we're still trying to get some to understand that you can't point out of the 250 Nationals!
BillC, the pros score points per moto ie: 1st=25pts. et al. At the local tracks, your finishing position is your points and you score like golf, lowest score wins at the Nationals most points on the day wins. The tie breaker is still second moto finish. Thats why there is confusion among fans who use to score the local races. It always takes me the first National to readjust the scoring in my head.
The 7-3 beats the 5-4 because even though they add up to the same amount of points the tie breaker second moto, duh, breaks the tie. The whole post wasn't directed at you BillC, just hope to clarify with some newbies. Weege and Emig explain it better.

freestone will be even worse for dungey if he cant get that bike to stop swapping back and fourth bouncing around and all, i called this he will struggle hard on the rougher tracks and seeing how the majority of them are insanely rough and rutted it will be a tough series for him, if you think back to SX he looked terrible on the rough tracks and the whoops,just 1 week ago they were at lake elsinore "trying a few different swingarms" so yeah i garantee you atleast 1 time yesterday the thought crossed his mind that he wished he was on that suzuki roger decoster left and pulled the line from "half baked", "all i want to know is who's comin with me?" its a little soon to call it but dungey of last year would have smoked dungey from yesterday so now the dungey fans get to have the "its the bike" party and walk a mile in the stewart fans shoes............
for the first national on the KTM for dungey i thought he looked incredible. Was pressuring james until he got flustered by lappers, which has always been his weak point.

I am not a HATER as some people may think. I am a realist and keeping emotions out of analysis of anything you care about helps you make better decisions because you are basing them off of logic and facts as you observe them. Some of you Stewtards should try that sometime. As I said before (broken record) if the Stewtards were not so annoying it would be much easier to become a fan of Stewart once again. James carried himself very well this weekend in interviews and on the track. He is moving in the right direction to rebuild his reputation that he damaged with bad choices over the past few years.

@pugue - I always give credit where credit is due. In the recent past James had not done much to deserve any props. He totally did yesterday though. I will always bash when someone makes bone headed moves because they earn it. When their character shows huge flaws they deserve it even more. I bashed on J-Law back in the day because he earned it on so many occasions. James was never mean like J-Law was to other riders but he did ride over his head, he did crash into other riders, and he did impersonate a police officer. That shows poor judgement where I come from.
I would say the same things about any rider that does stuff like that. I love watching Barcia but he has made some stupid mistakes too so I slammed him when he did stupid stuff like what he did in Bercy. Dungey and Villopoto seem to somehow stay out of the stupid stuff but sometimes their die hard fans can be as annoying as the Stewtards.

Cracks me up when somebody says "who are you racing" about JS win!! I'd like to hear the same thing out of you about "who" RV raced in SX?? Canard and Reed out early and then the last remaining threat (Dungey) goes out at the halfway mark when RV only had a 13 point lead on him!!! I'd say the redhead had it pretty damn easy from then on!! So, lets not pull that crap, cuz just like RV in SX, you only have to race the guys who can get themselves to the line each week.......and James just opened the season besting everybody who came to the line my friends. That card can be pulled out against every riders accomplishments to some extent.....so don't play it!!!
To all the Stewart haters....if you don't like him so much, why not line up next to him on Saturday and race him? i am sure he would love to run into lappers on lap 2....
@VOR its easy to describe the difference here.. RV was on the top of the leade board when Reed went down. and Canard hasnt really proven to be a title contender on the 450 so him going out wasnt much. And Dungey raced all season except when he crashed, RV was already up a ton of points. And your boy Stewart was there trying to keep pace all year. So RV beat the whole line-up of the best in the world, and finished the title chase early. Dont forget RV missed some races and gave up points also, he just wrapped it up early.
Stewart looked great, but no doubt about it, the field is very thin. You know its thin when the first moto Millsaps gets second by only 8 seconds. RV would have beaten that field by 40 seconds. But I am not taking anything away from Stewart, he looked good. And showed maturity and patience by not blazing away when he had a decent lead.

Villopoto has been knocked out with an injury- 2 of the last 4 supercross series- and 3 of the last 4 outdoors series. He is a championship winning machine when he is not scraping himself off the ground- Hows come no one has ever called him a 'lawn dart'?

Therealmofo.... Give me a break. Stop speculating about RV, he's not riding, live with it. If you want to face the facts Reed and RD had 30+ seconds on RV at Hangtown last year. The only time RV seemed to have the edge last year was when he jumped on the 2012. Even then to win the title he had a "little" help from Suzuki on 2 different occasions.
This is the first race of the series, that's it. There's a ton of racing left and I'm sure both guys being on new bikes are going to get faster as the series progresses. Again with 2 guys running a similar pace, starts are going to be HUGE this season. I don't think eith guy is going to run the other down if one get out front early and the other is burried in the pack.

@therealmofo....13 points is not a "ton" dude, and if he had to race the whole season against his main competitors it could have turned around very quickly.....much pressure was taken off of him with these guys going out. Don't get me wrong either, RV is an animal and was at the top when everybody went out, i only bring it up because the anti stewart types immediately want to point out the "thinned" field...as RC said, that is bull!! Very rarely does any guy have to beat a stacked field for an entire year!! Just giving back the nonsense some of you are giving out man!!
@pugue - I only mention the blue and red lights incident to make the point that it was a bad judgement on his part, like many of the other things he has done in the past few years. I don't believe he was being malicious at all but just doing an immature prank. However, it is a felony to impersonate a police officer (he plead guilty to a lesser charge and was then charged with a misdemeanor.) Doesn't mean he didn't commit the felony, which he did.It just meant they would go easier on him if he plead guilty to the misdemeanor. I was also mentioning this in the context of how his bad judgements in the recent past have caused him to lose a lot of his fan base. Did you miss the parts in any of my posts where I actually gave him credit or do you only read the parts with the small words?

@Therealmofo, in your post you ststed that RV had a TON (13) of points when RD was hurt halfway through the SX season. That is not a lot of points, especially the following week in Daytona he had a horrible race and RD could have very well been close or tied with him in points. Reed was right there when he got hurt also. RV hurt himself with a few rounds left which in his case he was lucky everyone else also crashed out. RV won the SX title through attrition becasue it was still early on in the season for any rider to pull away from the rest at that point. He had a good as shot as any if everyone stayed healthy, but you are calling the kettle black. And RD had RV covered last year in the Nationals, except for his mechanicals. RV won the title fair and square, becasue that is unfortunatley part of racing, and he looked better towards the end of the series when he got on the 2012 and really turned it up. But to say JS is riding a depleted field when he is racing against someone who very well could have won last years outdoor title is an innacurate statement. Yes we all want the heavy hitters out there, but one of the fastest from last year is still out there. Hopefully RD can get better starts next week and put in his own 1 - 1.

I support people of good character and talent because both matter to me. James has tons of talent and deserves everything he gets both good and bad. The bad things he has earned were dude to bad judgement on his part and he is seriously working to correct those things as is evident by his switching of teams and bike brands. His win list is indeed impressive and important to note, for sure.
He really doesn't need to care what my opinion of his character is but in many cases his sponsors do, and they should because he represents them, and people like me that spend a lot of money each year on moto stuff will spend our dollars to support the things that represent our values. Pretty simple.
A more extreme example is Michael Vick, who has tons of talent but has a massive character flaw in my opinion. I cannot support someone that did the things he did to domesticated animals for his own enjoyment and profit. You don't fix someone like that in just a few months in jail. As a result, I choose not to participate in commerce with any of his sponsors that pay him today.
The things that James did obviously are not on the same level as what Vick did, but they do show poor judgement on his part and I give him all the credit in the world for making the changes he made right before the start of the season to move in another direction and fix things. As I stated in another post (you must have missed that one) it is great to see him carry himself so well in the interviews and on the track. It appears that he is grateful of where he is now and seems a bit more grown up and settled. His results on Saturday definitely showed he is much happier now.
BTW - For the record I am not fat and I have actually been on the track with James at Lake Elsinore and I raced the Vet Intermediate in District 27.
