James Stewart OUT for New Orleans

PrintHUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – James Stewart has been suffering from the effects of a fractured hand since his crash in Indianapolis, which was further aggravated in Houston. He will sit out round 14 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series this Saturday, April 14, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La. to allow his hand additional time to recover. Before rejoining the series Stewart will have the injury re-evaluated by his doctor.
Stewart’s teammate, Davi Millsaps will be on the gate in New Orleans looking to advance to second overall in the series standings. CBS will air the original broadcast with next day coverage on April 15 starting at 1:00 p.m. (EST).

I think whether he tries to race anymore SX, is indictive of his commitment to the Outdoors, which has been the subject of speculation.
As in, if I was racing the 'tougher on your body' Outdoors I'd sit out SX.
If he stays in SX, I'd bet he skips the Outdoors.

I'm thinking this is his excuse to get out of it all.I don't doubt he is injured but he just doesnt seem "there" anymore. Maybe he is just over it all. I've been over the whole Stewart camp including Malcom since the TV shows shed light on their personalities and home life. I detest parents trying to improve their livelyhoods through their children.

This is silly. If this were Windham or Dungey we'd all be saying he was smart to get healthy for the outdoors and not risk further injury by continuing to ride hurt. That said, I sure hope he gets it together for the outdoors. He really hasn't been on his game since he fired Alden. That was his biggest mistake.
racerx i was reading that last post also on what is going on with James really people have tons of excuses but really i think James needs to realize that he shouldn't be riding just cause he is getting paid bank look at RV, Dungey, Reed, Windham, Hot sauce, Hill, Turbo Trey, and everyone else they are hear to ride and win championships and set records. James lost his spark from when RC left really thats what James wanted to do is beat the best but, really I think that James just really need to get his head out of the cash and stupid shit with dealing with money and start racing like how he use to and say I'm here to win and be called the fastest man on the planet. No real loss, maybe he can go back to playing a washed up C-list celebrity (if even that) on reality tv. He rides dirty anyways, scruffin' riders over berms every chance he gets. It's called a "clean pass" James!
Difference between Dungey (or others) is we know Dungey will be there outdoors. I still don't believe he Stewart will race mx. I HOPE he does, but not counting on it.

regardless if he races outdoors or not he's gonna struggle to make top 5's, he hasn't raced a full season outdoors in years. remember when RV struggles at the start of last year? If you watched some of the "Inside the Outdoors" videos he said it's so hard and look at the shape he was in. He had just won the SX title and still struggled a bit. Stewart has no chance.

So much judgement on James Jr. If the Stewart camp reads this they can count on me to pay attention to #7 racing and not his personal life. The way James won Daytona proves he is a BOSS. I do miss the smiley guy with those nice teeth laughing and dancing on the podium. James you are a boss, I won't ever forget what you have done in the last ten years. Go have some fun, laugh a little again, your dad is way to serious, ask pops to stay home for a week, I promise you will win if you try this.
So when does the "Compound" go up for sale? Reed said he didn't know how Stew was going to accomplish certain things expected of him. I think he was referring to incentives in his contract for results. Reed also said James went with the money (no brainer). He has a huge property, Dad, Mom, Brother and everything else that goes with his lifestyle. If he's not racing I can't imagine how he can afford "The Life".
Look on the bright side, this will free up my Saturday nights now that I don't need to watch SX!

Anyone with an injury, serious about outdoors, and out of the SX points chase would be smart to skip an event(s) if that is what it took to be fit for the outdoor opener.

Stewart has no reason to ride the rest of the SX series. ITS OVER! Why risk his life riding the Yamajunk. He gave it 110% for JGR,they can't fix the bike! From the scoop i've got from some reliable sources he's DONE at JGR. His choice and a smart one. He's trying to heal up for the nationals and show up on a RED BIKE!
I think if James WANTS to win races next year, he needs to race outdoors this year. The race pace has passed him by. I don't think it's a bike issue. These guys are just plain faster. No one else has sat out the last couple of years. The Ryans and Chad have all developed their speed at the same time over the past couple of seasons. Take your lumps James and be a man. Take the beating this year and you will be faster next year. My own opinion, of course!!

I say shut it down for supercross. Heal up, get in shape and get your bike set up for outdoors. If he comes out and is competitive in the outdoors he will gain back a lot of fans. If he doesn't race outdoors then he will lose a lot of respect from his fans. With no Reed and Canard we need James to add some excitement. Townley should add some fun to. Is Barcia going to race 450's this season. Kind of confused on that one.

Atheletes break contracts all the time...His contract is with JGR and he can get out of it by saying they did not live up to providing him the bike he was promised and that caused injury...They may sue but more than likely just would forfit future earnings...Jgr would still have a contract with Yamaha....Pretty normal and while they might fight it out in court they will settle for much lower money in the end just to be done and move on.
Get off the kids back ok, he is really injured. Once you get infected with RV-itis it is as lethal as RC-itis, the only known antedote is parties, rest up and not race.
Besides let Gibbs worry about it.

Not trying to stir the pot, but according to some of the logic on here, he is to apparently be commended for sitting out the rest of SX and resting for outdoors if he's serious about it? Another said there's no point in him racing SX the rest of this season because the champ has been crowned already. I guess the way I see it then, what's the point of ANYONE lining up for the rest of the season? I'm guessing it has something to do with representing sponsors, extra incentive in the form of podium bonuses, etc. If he's injured, alright, rest up and sit out. We don't know the extent of his injuries fully, but if everyone were to sit out and rest up for outdoors, half the field would be gone. Alot of these guys ride through injury all season, and more often than not the public doesn't even know about it (Brayton, Milsapps' preseason knee surgery, and Windham riding banged up before he REALLY banged himself up, all come to mind).

When Stewart came on board at JGR, seems like only a few weeks ago, Jeremy Albrecht said in several interviews if it didn't work out he would let James move on. I bet there is some out in his contract too. That might get complicated by money but I don't see JGR trying to hang on if it is not working. Plus Albrecht reaching out to Short on Twitter about an outdoor ride is a dead giveaway.

When James Stewart decided to stay with a Yamaha team for 2012, I knew from the get-go that was going to be the biggest mistake of his life. I thought he would have nothing but problems, and I was right, but not the kind of problems I thought he was going to have. I thought JS would have problems going into that "red zone" speed like how 2011 went for him, but instead, he's been involved in a lot of first lap hazards or early/late race crashes. The first thing he should've done was get away from his Dad, which I think he has; the 2nd thing: he should've just gone with the Suzuki team -- he didn't.
On a final note, James should just accept the fact that his career's down the toilet.

Stewart broke Scaphoid and had surgery. Same bone that RJ broke. Same bone that most motorcycle racers break. As long as this bone is fixed right away and it doesnt lose any blood flow, most people recover from it. However, if this bone lacks the blood flow it will die. If it dies riding becomes harder and paneful, especially when they are removed. So douchebag Persona eat a dick...

Are you really going to use Davi Millsaps as an example of how good the Yamaha can be...1/2 the field is gone and he still gets beat by like 20 seconds...Davi flat out sucks A**...Maybe back half of the field rider at best....And has everyone forgotten how every rider we believe to be great has had seasons where the have crashed out on the points they all do it CR,AS,RD,RV,TC,and so and so on ....I swear to you JS7 is crashing more on that POS Yamaha because of the effort it takes to overcome the flaws the bike has.....And to answer why he does better in heats the answer is simple people half the comptetion and 1/3 the laps,sprinkled with better track condition equals better chance to pull a good result. Add bad bike,lots of pressure to win,lack of confidence,and injury and it equals JS7's season so far...He will get off of that Yamaha...Book it.....and just so you have a clue I live in Charlotte,NC and have friends @JGR who have said the relationship is bad.
It is amazing how the Stewart fans still support him when all he has done since 2009 is make excuses and produce poor results. Every week he does something that shows he has ZERO!!! integrity and all he cares about is getting paid as much as possible for doing as little as possible. He makes at least 3 times as much as the champions ( Dungey/Poto) and his sponsors are still buying his scam. Why do you think Kawasaki never even offered a second contract? Why do you think L/M wanted nothing to do with him? When JS7 was at his best he could have won on a bone stock bike, its not the bike! He has not been in race winning shape since 2009. He thinks he is so much better than his comp that he doesn't need to train as hard as everybody else. The truth is when he didn't race for 18 months the sport evolved and he has never been able to catch back up. He still believes he is the FMOP and blames his results on everything but himself. I believe his best days are way behind him and its sad that their are so many great riders out there and JS7 is taking the bulk of sponsorship money and he seems to be trying harder not to race than giving the sport the 100% it deserves. How his fans think that he is good for the sport I will never understand, for the last three years he has done nothing but take from the sport and give VERY little in return. I think the sport is much better off without JS7 at this point. Joe Gibbs must be sick about his decision to hire Stewart.

I really hope to see James at the outdoors and if he is injured, then he does need to take the time to heal. However, if he is just having confidence issues, or legal issues he needs to at least make appearances at the races. I would love to see him race the last few races as I am sure the Stewtards would, and his sponsors would.

Everybody else increases there race speed and ability to become better riders. Which has caught up to James. Has anyone on here actually raced with a broken scaphoid? I cracked mine in December one year - had no pain doing normal activities - tried to race outdoor MX 8 weeks later - after 5 laps the pain was unbelievable - and this is at a local level, Vet A rider speed - NOT pro level supercross. When you can qualify for a SX or MX race, and hang with these guys, you have a right to call them out. Otherwise keep racing your #@^%$#* keyboard.
You guys are acting like this is some sport of a surprise and that you didn't see this coming. I would guess he isn't showing up for the Outdoors either, which again, isn't much of a surprise. But for you guys to say he isn't injured is ridiculous, clearly something isn't right and after all the dirt naps the guy has taken since January, being injured seems like is would of happened a long time ago.

The results speak for themselves and in the end are the only thing that matters. Excuses don't mean sh*t, he made his own bed and now he's laying in it. If his fitness is so good, why has he won almost all his heats and only 2 main events? I don't see how the JS7 fans can say its the bike with all those heat race wins. I'm just thankful to have gotten to see him race in Houston, AND WE DID SEE US SOME GOOD RACIN !!! With as little as he's been riding in recent years that race might become a 'collectors item' :)

How else is he going to hold on to the line, wake boarding? You can't if you're hands broken. Or doesn't he have community service due from his impersonating a law enforcement officer conviction, so he can’t race outdoors. JS is probably one of the most gifted riders in the history of motocross and is fast on raw skill. The problem is no matter what bike JS rides, these 450 even up the playing field. you guys do know james reads all this right. up till this year I was a track worker for the SX and everybody calling james a wuss need to do track walk and ride these supercross tracks. the tires and the bike to me was james down fall. put him back on that kawi and see what happens. you see what happen to KW trying to run james slow pace and scrub that jump. thats the same thing RV would of did if james was on a true factory bike. the outdoors look for james. All things said and done - I DO hope stewart races outdoors, even if the yammie-haw is a pig (although I don't believe that JGR can't fix it), and stays in racing shape, and comes back strong next winter - no matter who he rides for. The more competition, the better! It doesn't surprise me that relations are strained at JGR - he's frustrated cause he wants to win and is hurt, and they're frustrated because they're not winning yet - do you think folks would be happy? At least Millsaps is getting them podiums!
Patrana! If any of you got to see him kill it on a track you knew how fast he could have been if he stayed healthy. I've never seen anyone faster through a set of whoops, RC included. It was a treat to watch his brief career. Just like it was watching James kill it on his KX125. One of the best ever. I hope we get to see more of it this year because it was something special.
This year, the only guy to get anywhere near this much hate would be Barcia. At least his was deserved. I'll be cutting him some slack and hope the James haters do the same with him. Its a tough, unforgiving sport, just ask Reed or Canard.
Either way, I wish all the riders good health for the outdoors.

It's interesting that there are 3 road racers with WAY more than the mx'ers, I didn't realize road racing was so popular, I don't watch it at all myself.

I would love to see JS out there simply because the more "fast" guys battling it out, the better. But I won't be surprised at this point if Stewart hangs up his boots for good.

I would be interested to see what James would do on a factory Suzuki, or to a lesser extent a Honda...If he still has the drive to win that is.
