I am not a doctor, but I think to many riders rush back before totally healed...be it pressure they feel from sponsers, to get back to race for points or just miss it and think they can heal as they ride...Stay off the bike til you are healed...to many riders have re-injured themselves by coming back to soon..Reynard's career was cut short due to this ..Canard trys to come back to quick....the time a rider misses effects his riding more than they realize...opens the door for misakes that lead to more falls...As much as I would like to see Ryan back, he needs to heal completely..re-focus on the goal before him...supercross championship is no longer possible....the goal should be the outdoors...so take the time, heal and test and give it your best shot when the nationals start....to all the guys hurt, we miss you, but please ..heal first...take care of yourself...extend your career.....
Love you Dungey
Well said BD25.........I've had quite a few injuries over the years, latest being turning my foot around backwards in the fall. This is the first time healing and rehabbing by the book and not coming back too early. The difference in speed of healing and comfort isn't even comparable to coming back early relative to how other stuff has felt in the past. It just shakes up the confidence being off for so long but you don't forget how to ride. It will come back fast, just need to go riding and stop thinking about it!
I still think Dungey will be top 3 in points at the end of the SX season.
WTF is up with the Vid?? He looks so funny!!
.Either way, RD stay off the SX track, Get the bike diled for the Outdoors and give it he!!
I think the video was recorded into a "fun-house" mirror. He looked compressed.
I was having volume difficulties. When did he say he planning on coming back?
4 to 5 weeks so that would leave about 2/3 weeks?? He said not sure if he will do the last few SX races.
I think he's been working out. He looks huge.
We are 2/3 of the way through the season and only 6 racers in the 450 class have scored a point at every round. A few of those 6 rode hurt also. Thats a lot of good riders getting hurt!
Wow, he's huge now!
This is old, KTM posted this on their facebook last week...
Hurry back Ryan, [ but take the time to heal properly ] you are a true champion, and a real asset to professional racing. The supercross series isn't the same without you.
I didn't watch it.
And just think..... he ran RV down the week this injury happened! Thats Hardcore.
A Class act, one of my favorite riders today. The series hasn't been the same without Ryan and Chad to cheer on. I hope K-Dub is alright for this weekend, other wise I have no interest.
HandlebarDragger: 4 Strokes may be causing the injuries due to their power and weight, but I think now as fuel injected 2 strokes are becoming more popular in boating, they would have made their way to mx as well and probably been more deadly with the amount of power they would produce. Maybe less jumps and more racing in SX could be the answer, I don't now. Would be nice to see a lot of tight racing instead of all the bunny hopping from jump to jump to jump to whoop to jump if you know what I mean. Maybe I am wrong though as the Monster Energy Cup was sort of like that and was not exciting at all!
Another thought would be that maybe nobody's really going any faster and to prove this theory, RC should come back for once race. Just got the feeling he is just as fast as RV or maybe even more so.
Klrman1.... NOT a chance, I would bet almost anything RV would smoke him!!!
