Cody Mackie unfortunately missed the SX Main for the DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing team after finishing 13 th in his Heat race and fifth in the SX Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ).
Leading up to the SX Main, Chisholm finished sixth quickest in his SX Group A first qualifying practice with a lap time of 49.244. Mackie, who was also in SX Group A, finished his first qualifying practice 19 th quickest with a lap time of 52.330. Both riders went on to pick up speed in their final qualifying practice with Chisholm finishing 10 th fastest with a lap time of 48.678 and Mackie finishing 18 th fastest with a lap time of 50.347. Those times put Chisholm 11 th fastest overall in Heat 2 with the sixth gate pick and Mackie 25 th fastest overall in Heat 2 as well with the 13 th gate pick. Chisholm put together another consistent Heat race finishing eighth advancing to the SX Main, giving the DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing team their only entry of the evening. Mackie unfortunately got hung up at the holeshot and went down collecting a tough block cover that got hung up on his rear brake lever. This caused him to get black-flagged so race officials could untangle the cover from his bike. Mackie battled back to finish 13 th putting him in the SX LCQ where he needed to finish first or second to advance to the SX Main.
Chisholm’s 10 th place finish in the SX Main moves him up one spot to 12 th in series points with 67, now 13 points outside of the top-10. Josh Grant’s return from injury will continue to be evaluated on a week-to-week basis with Mackie filling-in until his return. Up next for the DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing team is Atlanta, Ga. for round eight on Saturday, February 25 th .
