MURRIETA, Calif. – JDR Motorsports (JDR), a premier team in Australian motocross and supercross, has chosen PCGCampbell (PCGC) to manage the marketing-communications/ sales operation for its U.S. off-road motorcycle team.
In 2012, JDR will be entering its second year competing in the U.S. AMA Supercross and Motocross Series. Last year was “a building season,” said JDR owner and founder Jay Rynenberg, whose “homeland” team has captured six Australian riding titles since debuting in 2008. “We’ve had great success racing in Australia and now we’re aiming to do the same in the U.S. In fact, we’re continuing to support our Australian team, which is an ideal stepping-stone for aspiring riders to try the U.S.”
JDR riders have captured three Australian riding championships in the last two years, and Rynenberg is seeking similar success from his cast of U.S. riders, which includes Matt Moss (’11 Australian Pro Lites Motocross champ); PJ Larsen (’10 Australian Pro Lites and Lites Super X champ); and 19-year-old Florida native Malcolm Stewart, the 2011 AMA MX Rookie of the Year. Additionally for 2012, KTM Motorcycles returns as a JDR sponsor in the U.S. along with J-Star Motors, Bell, Dunlop, Renegade and more.
“We’ve assembled a stellar group of riders to compete for U.S. championships, and now we’re partnering with PCGCampbell to help us develop long-term relationships with new sponsor-partners,” says Rynenberg. “We’re looking to do a lot more than slap a logo on a helmet. PCGC has compiled an impressive relationship-marketing record across an array of industries, which we’re expecting to tap into so we can reach our lofty goals in the U.S.”
PCGCampbell, one of the nation’s largest privately held marketing firms, has represented numerous clients in action sports, including Yokohama Motorsports, Ford Racing, the NHRA Motorsports Museum, Edelbrock, OP and Hurley.
“JDR Motorsports is Australia’s benchmark for motocross racing and business,” says Shane Smith, PCGC managing partner. “We’re determined to help them achieve that status in the U.S. by using a sophisticated approach to secure sponsors who want to become part of the JDR family and youth-oriented lifestyle. One of our primary assets will be that there are so many salable items in the JDR collection – ranging from team gear and participation in two 2012 series (the East Coast and West Coast tours), to social media, branded content and athlete endorsements.”
