HOLESHOT!!! Just have to say how nice it was to see the canadian boys mix it up at the Wick!! Also supper pumped for Metty and Bam Bam yee haa!!
RV2!! rode conservative and came out, even if it is just 1 point. The Southwick curse didn't come up and grab him, he left the way he came in. RV2 2011 450 champion.
Great too see the canadian boys & other privateers do well. Really pays of in times like these not growing up in sunny CA. Can't believe dungey came back from nearly a lap back and finished 7th, I bet he would have won that if he started on time! Sucks too see reed out of the battle though(was really hoping he would win it!) but if anyone wins it It should be Dungey at this point!
I think that was Brayton's best rides in a long time, no one seemed to mention him, I think he's still got potential. and this IS the Yamaha wake up call and they're not getting up there much lately. Poor Yamaha.
Poto rode a smart second moto + Dungey rode his butt off = 8 point overall differance. Two races, Four motos,100 points up for grabs, Gonna be a great ending to an exciting season, no mater who wins the title, the real winners are the mx fans! Thanks to all the riders who are out there bustin their butts to entertain us!
@ron - Well said man....
First moto was some good racing....too bad the Honda motors quit...crazy they both let go within a few minutes of each other.....Reed to me didnt look like a threat anyway as the front 3 guys pulled pretty quick..RV didnt have much trouble gettig around Barcia and it was nice to see RV reel in Dungey at the end for a change....another lap or two would have been great to see some more racing.....Moto 2 bring on the rain....Bummer for Dungey having to go through all that....that changed the race for RV...seeing RD standing there ala no bike, RV went into "just finish top 5" mode.....meanwhile Dungey was in " all or nothing" mode and did what anyone would have done.....I would have liked to see RV go for it more and get that overall....but considering the conditions and all....i think he played it safe and got out of Southwick.....he needed to beat RD overall and he did.....Dungey rode great no doubt...he had too....One thing that was noticed by Emig was riders were just letting him by the last two laps......they thought he was the leader....funny....
I have one question from an old timer that wasn't all that good....Do the benifits of these 4 bangers outweigh the liabilitys they seem to represnt? I don't know how many times I've seen a rider lose 39 positions kicking that pig,....I've seen waaaaay more of em just plain blow up, than i can ever remember of 45 yrs of moto racin and spectatin.....Let alone the cost to fix those things? Do the benifits of "smooth power" (thats all i can figure) outweigh all the other obvious problems with em?? I really don't think they could be all that great. I'd take a Hodaka anyday, over a new rmz450, if thats how they do in a race.... ;)
crazy day at the wick no doubt.....
Dungey did a great job getting out there and blocking that disaster before the moto out of his head and salvaging a 7th place....Not trying to down play it at all, however as mentioned above and even Fro mentioned on TV, some guys were just letting Dungey by, not that he wouldnt have passed them anyway....Another thing to consider is Dungey was probably the only guy on the track really going for it the last 10 minutes of the moto....everyone else seemed to be rolling around to get through the race and RD had nothing to lose and all to gain.....If that was a dry track and no rain, Dungey would never have made it to 7th....so even on a bad day, he had some luck on his side....I think it safe to say that had Dungey not had that engine drama, the race would have been handled different by RV....I am sure that Kawasaki was suprised Dungey got past 10 or guys on the last 2 laps...
Taddy is the man in endurocross... Amazing rider!!!
Suprise victory of CP377 at the Belgian chamionship... Beating Herlings who for ths occasion rode a 350...
Anyway, the kid is still young and still has to first win a championship in his class... He's leading by a loooong mile the Dutch championship.
Read on a twitter message from a french motocross forum that CP is practically sure he will ride the SX season 2012...
And he's still hoping the french federation will pick him for the upcoming des Nations..
I guess people forget fast.. Ha,ha.
2012 should be a interesting season..
Besides blowing up, the Hondas just didn't look right on Saturday. Barcia had a couple of "OH MY GOSH" moments where the front seemed to snap out of his hands almost. Some of the Honda 250 racers semmed to be experienceing this as well, Decotis being a obvious example.
I'm no factory mechanic or racer but, I always thought "choppering out" the chassis was a safe direction to take when setting up for sand, it seems the Hondas were loading the front more than usual. Is it just me or did anyone else notice this? Was this phenomena because of the wet sand condition exclusively or were there contributory factors?
It seemed as though they had turned the steering stabilizers to the "pay no mind" setting.
Interesting thoughts to all! I have nothin to add, ecepct when did a honda not have "head shake" ??
Shout out to John "Junkyard Dawg" Dowd, at 45 doin what he did and keepin the #16 safe for another year.
Also like BD25 said, heres to all the racers, especially the privateers for being out there every week, busting their tails all week training, and traveling, so we can all be entertained and enjoy the best sport in the world.
Am rooting for Dungey, but whoever wins, its just been another unpredictable, exciting season.
Can't wait for that $1 million dollar Monster race in Vegas too!!!!
I loved it that Dungey actually used profanity in his post race interview, yea buddy!!
Now that Reed is out of it I'll be pulling for him and hoping Dungey can silence all of us who believed he won last year because all the heavey hitters were missing.
@ Welker, Haha, yeah, I guess so but, this was a whole 'nother level........it seemed like it to me anyhow.
Great to see the "Junkyard Dog" get his points for next season, how cool is that?? His was the first autograph my son ever got. It was several years ago at Red Bud, and his mechanic told everyone he had to go because practice was starting. My son was real little and it was obvious he was disappointed. So Dowd said "Hold on little buddy, c'mere. And signed his shirt and even posed for a picture real quick. It was very cool. His mechanic was really trying hard to get him on the track, and he made time for my son anyway. Something my son wont ever forget. Glad to see him still riding fast out there. they should retire his number for a few years.
I have to admit I am a nascar enthusiast. I attended the southwick race and it was bar none the most boring motorsport I have ever witnessed. So friggin slow! My buddy told me you have to be in shape to race dirt cycles. How? You rely on a motor for Pete's sake! I will not be back! Can I get my $ back? Later Motorcross!
