miss this place.. wanna go back
I always thought this was a cool track, loved the WALL. And guys using it like a berm.
Is that Bubba I see there in the white t-shirt with the number 7 on in the bottom left of the 1985 RJ 250 Holeshot photo...lol Maybe James Sr since it was 1985 lol.
Loved going to the Nationals at Broome Tioga.I pray all works out well for the previous and new owners.B Blessed.XOB
Went there in 1985, First time I saw Jeff Ward live!!
Thank you for posting these. Many great memories there. Sad that it is such a mess now. Even sadder that they had to give up their National.
Great pictures!!!! Looks like Henry on the YZ400F prototype?
all these new tracks are nice but the old ones on the circuit need mixed into the series some years!
Of all the tracks I've been to(Unadilla,Southwick,High Point,Steel City)Broome was always my favorite. It stiil sickens me there is no National held there anymore, but there is 1 at that flat layout looking SX track(Freestone)that replaced it.IMO that track is a huge step backwards for our sport.Like the saying goes"The more things change,The more things suck"
so cool seeing these pictures after riding this track over weekend
Rode Broome back in '77 or '78 when Pascarelli's (sp) ran it. Still have agreat picture of us riding a moto during a snow squall
Not sure of the spelling, McMoto, but it was Mario Mascerelli. The father died on a piece of heavy equipment while working on the track. His son (also Mario) followed the Nationals briefly. Those were the days when Tommy Rice was winning in District Three. (He still shows up at an occasional race and smokes the senior classes.) I first rode B-T in '79 and started going to the National same year. Many epic battles. Watched Doug Henry clinch the championship there in '98. Caught his goggles after the race and still have them. Definitely miss that National.
Love the Nick Wey picture. I think that was his first National. That's me with my friends at the bottom center of the picture. I'm wearing the grey and white Shift hat. A few years later, I hit a Tony D MX instructor here when my front brake broke on my F&S Suzuki 2001 RM 125. I was teamed up with Mike Alessi for corner drills. So many memories racing District 3 here.
I saw James Stewart here for the first time at the Loretta Lynnss qualifier before he raced the Nationals. He did things on a motorcycle I've never seen before. He just didn't let off.
LOVE that 1985 RJ 250 Holeshot pic! Funny how things don't really change: 1, 2, and 3 all out front. O'Mara is hard to see since the sun obscures his # but the open face JT helmet is a dead giveaway. I believe he went on to win that day.
That's Hannah dicing with Gentleman Jim Holley right behind the leaders. I almost thought that was Magoo railing the outside looking like he is going faster than everyone else combined but since it's 1985 that must be Jeff Hicks.
Great Pix!!!
Loved this track, on TV at least. Wonder why Davey, who killed the national mx there, is reminding us about it. Rubbing it in, maybe?
Sef, Its been a long time since the (I do stand corrected) Mascerelli days of B.T. I used to work at Moroney's Cycle back then and had to 'drop everything' to go rescue Pat Moroney up at B.T. with a blown up box van. Got a speeding ticket and a GREAT Italian meal out of it courtesty of Mrs. Mascerelli. Tom Rice flat out hauled ass on those '79 23" wheeled CR125's ! Sorry I've recently moved and been out of cyber touch for a while. Give 'em hell at the 'Wick' 4 me
Hopefully, Irene won't do it for us!
