Racer X Films: The Spot Red Bud

Tuesday, July 5, 2011 | 9:10 PM

This week's "The Spot" should be no surprise, as it is none other than LaRocco's Leap. This twenty-year-old land mark was good to watch because if riders weren't scrubbing their speed, they were holding it wide open to clear the whole thing.

These get worse by the week! High Point was by far the best. Just set up a camera stationary and walk away. 2 minutes is not enough. I'll be happy to pay to watch longer videos or whatever is necessary.

I think its good to note that no one on the 250 did the jump. Last yr Christophe Pourcel did the leap on the pro-circuit KX and was the only 250 to clear the jump a few times. Some might hate the guy but respect his ridng man.

Dean Wilson Jumped the leap on his 250F this year. He was the only one to do it.

"the spot" is the best thing on this website, it keeps it together while Weege threatens to tear the place down.

That was horrible. The camera was way to close to do it justice and what was the point of showing the 250 guys?

Is it me or was Laroccos leap more impressive when they ran the 2 strokes.I remember even some 125 guys tried it.The 250 2 strokes had to have it pinned and set up the corner before perfect much harder then just blipping the throttle on a 4 stroke.

The flagman on the right is facing the wrong way. You look DOWN the the track. This is how a wreck doesn't get flagged in time to alert following riders. Seen it a zillion times and is really the only way you can f-up flagging. This gets guys hurt.

How or what software do I need to view this video? I looked for it on youtube but couldn't find it.

Didn't sound like anyone that did the whole thing "blipped" the throttle to me... Pretty much sounds like they were on the gas all the way off the lip... Gimme a break

Dean wilson did the leap on the parade lap on a little bike. Loved this footage. Tomac might as well have been jumping Larocco's leap, his crash was sooo brutal only doubling it. lucky he didn't get hurt. mike alessi wouldn't hit the leap on the 350 last year. bet shorty was sh#1ting himself having to be bout 4th wide on that bike

I wonder if anyone riding there realizes that 4 strokes suck...

Ya, good thing they switched back to using this setup, instead of youtube. The farcking video dosen't load. Dickheads.

I agree that 2 strokes were more impressive. CR22 on the Parade pretty much stopped at the turn, then looked around, and decided with no effort to clear it.

Smokers would be rung out through the whole corner to make that.

Just sayin......

lets keep sending money to the AMA officials. all they do is grow big bellys but do not do any thing when they should : i.e. JS7 incident, 2smokers Vs 4 strokes, killing the privateers and the list goes on and on and on...

all the are, is puppets of the BIG 4 manufacturers.
